CLASSIC HEROSCAPE .STL FILES
3D MODELS INDEX

Notes:
Please check out my Thingiverse page for 3D Heroscape figures and terrain. All my most updated stuff is there.

This thread is older and most of the models are not as high resolution as the ones on Thingiverse.

WK's Thingiverse Page

0) For higher resolution, laser-scanned files, be sure to check out Scapedood's thread:

Scapedood's laser scanned models

1) Look for (matte) next to a figure name. Those are the best resolution models. We won't get better than that without a better 3D scanner.

2) Some of the earlier matte models have some surface defects. Part-way through I learned how to easily clean up those defects. Let me know if there is a model you want me to clean.

3) I will print any of these figures at a nominal fee (mostly covering cost of filament and wear on my printer). PM me for a quote.

4) I will slowly populate this with all the classic figures, C3V, and SoV figures.

5) Let me know if any of the links have issues or point to the wrong .stl file.

6) I'll soon be deleting the less detailed duplicate models.

7) Note: All figures are in inches. To convert to mm, multiply by 25.4. To scale in CURA, use 2540%

@White Knight , thanks so much for doing this thread. The value here is amazing. This thread allows for people with 3d printers to keep this game alive. I myself will probably be especially printing the harder to find models for tournament prizes. I cant give you enough rep for even this thread alone.

@White Knight , I have all of these downloaded now. I'm making an army for my brother for him to use for the next tournament. He's always wanted to run this one and finally can now. Thanks for the time your putting into this project. I'll also be able to have the flag bearers now.

I'm just glad they're being used. We put a lot of effort into scanning them and cleaning them up. A shout out to @Lyrgard , @SlipperySlope , @DanieLoche , and @Kinseth for all the work they did as well!

I might have higher resolution scans of the figures in your brother's army. If you want me to check, send me a PM. I can clean up the scans and save to .stl files.

I just finished printing the 8 models he needed to add to my existing ones to make his army. Now to paint them. I will anxiously await any additional models you throw on here. These will be so much fun to print and paint up as I please for heroscape and any other dungeon crawl. I've been running my printer nonstop. I've went through about 5 lbs of filament. I still have another 5 lbs waiting to be made into glorious miniatures and terrain.:) There are a handful of common figures I just never had a chance to buy more than 3 sets of and so I'm completely digging this. I'm surprised more people haven't weighed in here. Some of them are low poly models but they still have potential to look great with a little paint. I'm going to be making me a couple more swog riders for sure. I think I have 2 of them, and 1 of the unique hero. I don't have the official ornak, sir gilbert, acolarth. I only have a hatamoto taro, and a cloned laglor. These are seriously great though.

These are great - THANK YOU!

I am not super familiar with the 3D printing process. For a custom print - could you increase the size? Like say I wanted a Minion of Utgar to be about 50% larger, is that easy to do?

I'll drop you a PM (and some Rep) as well.

Scaling the whole figure with base is 10 seconds easy. If you want the figure larger but the base a standard size it might take me 5 minutes to scale the figure and import a larger standard base. But both are simple.

When I get home tonight I'll respond to your PM.

Ive actually printed out quite a few of these figures so far WK. I printed out 8 fire elementals for my brother for the last tournament we went to to run a kurrock firestorm. He did pretty well. I printed 3 flag bearers that I didnt have and a zetacron that will probably end up on a game prize table. I printed a couple of wo sa gas a while back. I'm now printing up a set of blade gruts but a bit bigger to be orc warlords. Not sure how I'm going to paint them up yet. Its gonna be awesome. I look forward to what else you come up with here. I may have to do some big minions as well. Giant demons, cant get enough giant demons.

Some files are a lot cleaner than others. Its very easy to scale them up and down in my slicer before printing. I printed out a group of blade gruts that are truly brute gruts. On all these files I have to scale them up 2540% to make them normal size. I scaled the 4 orcs up to 3500%. The base overlaps a normal hex space a little bit, but they turned out fantastic. Im going to paint them up as orc warchiefs or something. The details on the blade gruts is pretty decent. I also printed out an ornak, acolarth, and sir gilbert normal size. @White Knight is there any way I can help you with this project. Its really great and would love to try to clean up some of the details on some of the lower poly models. Ive been getting wrecked by my UC lately but plan on posting up some of the cool stuff from this thread that Ive printed.

Just out of curiosity...how much do you think it costed to print out the elementals. I've thought about using the elementals as figures for a custom I'm debating but they are cost prohibitive...Just trying to get an idea. Have you printed off any of the Vipers...the elite and Amoroc specifically. Basically I'm asking whats the material cost here a person would be looking at. I don't have a 3D printer...yet...but I am intrigued.

Which elementals japes?
HeroClix has great substitutes for the Fire ones.

The plastic is fairly cheap once you get the printer.

I guess my question was more general than I made it...I'm just curious how much a regular medium sized figure would cost to print? Also can you do hallow things as well...like the RttFF trees for instance?

The cost of the figures depends on how much time it took for the mini and how much filament the mini uses. There are a bunch of factors to this. First is the quality of the machine. Machines that run a higher quality may be more expensive.(there are some exceptions). Then there is the speed. Generally faster means less detail. The slower it goes the longer the machine runs using more power but equally wears on the machine as if you were to run it faster. There is the knowlege factor built in where you have to dial in your machine to make it work best for you with maintenance and the correct settings. Lastly there is filament. The filament comes in different qualities by price. The cheaper stuff gets you some really cheap things but may ruin your nozzles faster. I definitely recommend buying a 3d printer if your half the plasticrack addict I am. My wife bought me 2 rolls of filament for my birthday to make whatever I like. When buying figurines from other places figuring in what shipping costs is something you want to do as well. It has went up since I last shipped anything out. My machine made each fire elemental in about 30min including the base. It made the giant orcs about an hour and 20 to an hour and 30 depending on the sculpt. Generally on my printer it takes about 45 min for a standard 28mm figurine to print on my custom settings that are faster than the stock settings.

Re: Index of Classic Heroscape .stl files

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/gS...=w1110-h740-no

I used clear PETG for my fire elemental and did a red, orange, and yellow wash. I'm happy with how they turned out.

The clear PETG is $28 for 1kg, which is about 100 meters (I haven't done the density calculation). A medium Heroscape figure uses about .5m to 1m of filament. That's about $.14 to $.28 a figure, about a quarter a figure.

Machine time is 20 minutes to 4+ hours depending on the desired resolution and complexity. I use fairly fast settings for mine, since I haven't seen much difference with slower settings. So I'm on the lower end of time. But TREX's printer has better resolution so it probably takes longer.

There is also some time involved in cleaning off support structures after the print.

But the basic material cost is low.

This thread has me contemplating getting a 3d printer! How do you think these would turn out with a cheap one like the Ender 3?

I have heard nothing but good things about the Ender 3.
Hyground tiles bought one.

Im part of a few different tabletop 3d printing facebook groups and have seen many a good mini from ender 3 machines. The bottom line is getting it set up well and getting the correct settings put in. Ive thought about buying a second printer and have considered the ender 3. I really love my snapmaker and may buy another one of those with a bigger print bed in the future to add to my current machine. If your a big tabletop gamer you wont regret it. I find that printing terrain is more satisfying compared to minis though. Ultimately it is super fun.

I would probably make terrain, too. I doubt I知 ever gonna play an official game, just casual stuff. I致e been expanding my collection little by little but it adds up. If I could make passable minis with a $200 machine it would cut costs considerably, at least by half to get everything I知 looking for. Plus I could make tiles like you said. Definitely would be so much easier than tracking down expensive sets for some lava or snow tiles.

This is all good news though, sounds like that printer will definitely work for what I need. From what I read careful building and calibration are key so I知 sure it痴 just a matter of practice. Good stuf!

Im not a pro at the ender 3, but will try to help. I personally advise that you join a desktop miniatures printing facebook group. Questions get answered all the time on there and can give you specific answers and settings to your exact machine by peeps that have that machine.

I have files for the D2 and D3 models that I haven't posted yet. D2 is probably half-way done, but the rest are raw scans that include the backgrounds and often have little holes or attached material and need to be edited. I use Blender to modify them and give them bases.

I also have some higher resolution raw scans of some of the other classic figures. For Hexscape, we scanned the figures, reduced the resolution of the models to make them faster to load, and then fixed up the holes and issues. For the scans I made, I still have the original higher resolution scans. But they still have and holes and issues and need to be fixed. I don't have the original scans for those done by Kinseth and others, and they are no longer available by Autodesk. :(

Also, since they are 123D Catch/Remake scans, even the higher resolution files are still fairly low resolution. They work for me, but I know a lot of people would not be satisfied with them. Maybe someday someone with a laser scanner will come along with better files...

If you want to help edit them, I can give you the links of the scan files.

That would be cool. I have a brother that knows blender pretty well and is teaching me as well. He would also want to help with this.

Re: Index of Classic Heroscape .stl files

@TREX ,

Most of the raw scan files are here:

DELETED (not necessary now that all the files are cleaned and on Thingiverse)

Note that "Base Single Heroscape.obj" is a clean single base file and "Base Double Small.obj" is a clean small peanut base. I scale the figures to the match the clean base, cut off the scanned base, and merge the figure with the clean base to make a completed figure. I have the large peanut base as well if needed.

Also note that D2, D3, and C3V files have unique base sizes. I measured all the bases, so I can tell you what size they are supposed to be.

Let me know which ones you decide to work on so that I don't duplicate the effort.

Awesome. I'll get word to my bro on these and we shall see what we can do to help. This is a very exciting project for the longevity of heroscape. Not to mention the other things you can do, like giant blade gruts.:) I'm painting my set of them soon and ill post them up.

Sounds good. The Zombie Hulk looks like a pretty clean scan. Are you putting it on the peanut base?

For scale, I measured and the Zombie Hulk's original base (in the scan) is 1.9" (4.8 cm). I usually use the grid in Blender to scale the figure's scanned base to the correct size before cutting off the base. The .obj Heroscape single and peanut bases are in inches.

I'm almost finished with the D2 .stl files. And I'll be working on the D3 files next, since I need them for Hexscape, so I'll reserve those.

yes. He is on a small peanut from the file you provided. He looks to be scaled correctly to it but I have to fix a couple of tiny bits by the bottoms of his feet where I cut him from his original base. Thats awesome about the D2 files.:) I should be able to get with my brother and get him on board as well too. He knows a bit more than me in blender and should be able to help much more quickly than myself for now.

Thanks for this info. It's exactly what I was looking for. Just a general idea. Thanks to @TREX , my son now REALLY thinks we should get a printer. $28 for at least 100 figures doesn't seem like a big loss in learning curve start-up. $0.25 and a couple hours is all I'm losing in a failed test I guess. My worry was actually how much money would I waste trying to get good at this. I don't think I'd be creating my own models anytime soon so I'd be using models I could find around.

And it looks like if I get the same model as someone else I should just be able to use their settings right?

The settings are 3D printer and material specific, not model specific. The settings on my printer (Vellemon K8200) are probably very different from those on TREX's printer. And the settings I use for PLA are different from those I use for ABS or PETG.

There will be some learning curve, but less if you use an out-of-the-box type printer. My printer was a kit, and it's taken a lot of tweaking and learning to get it to print well. But the newer printers need less adjustments. TREX got his and was up and printing almost right away (and hasn't stopped since!).

All this to say, if you get a printer with good reviews I don't think the learning curve will be difficult.

I agree with WK. It depends on the model and material. I just switched to a different brand of filament yesterday and brought my heat up 15 degreea Celsius per the recommendation on the filament box. I generally will test new settings on a miniature or something small instead of something big. After dialing in on an orc mini I printed a 9 hr. Rancor that came off the bed this morning. I printed it in one piece at 100mm tall. There are plenty of groups on facebook for each type of machine or tabletop printing that can help tremendously. You will love it japes.

There are single hex ice water swamp shadow along with all the glaciers/rocks. It really just depends what color of filament you print in or what you paint it like. I used thingiverse for the glaciers and base tiles. Digitallimit is the author. Make an account and get your library ready for printing before you get your printer.

I’m trying to mess around with various programs to see what I can make here. Opening a 2D picture and turning it into a 3D blob with a similar outline is easy enough. Anyone have any suggestions what I should use from there to clean up the blob and turn it into something? I saw someone mention blender, is that any good?

Blender can certainly do what you want--at least all the tools are there. I made some 3D Pokemon figures for my son, and they 3D printed pretty well. But I'm not up to doing complex figures like Heroscape models. Blender is free, and is widely used in the 3D community, so there are many tutorials and answered questions online. I use probably less than 1% of its features.

Sketchup, Maya, and Meshmixer are other options, but I'm not familiar with them. I think Sketchup and Meshmixer are free, but I'm not sure about Maya.

I looked up Sketchup. Seems to be browser/cloud based if you use the free version and I could t figure out how to import anything. Thanks for the tips, though
