The figure used for this unit is a Repainted Heroclix figure from the Ultimates set.
Its model number and name are #049-051 / Mysterio.

Character Bio - Holographic Projection Master Quentin Beck created these identical images of his criminal alter ego: Mysterio. Once activated, these illusions will duplicate his movement, create distractions, evaporate and reappear, and even gain temporary physical form to attack. Always an annoying thorn in Spider-Man's side, Mysterio prides himself on being able to trick the wall crawler with amazing illusions that leave even the most educated mind wondering "how did he do that?"

  • Mysterio Holograms may not be targeted by any attacks or powers that require a visible hit zone. Adjacent figures do not require visible hit zones to attack one another. Non-Adjacent figures require visible hit zones to attack or special attack. Some abilities only require clear sight, however, and would therefore still be able to be used on Mysterio Holograms.

Well I've been debating that. We could either:

A. Use the new mini for Mysterio from the Web of Spider-Man set...$15 :?

B. Or we could suggest putting a sticker on Mysterio's base

C. Or we could do a repaint wash for the Holographs. Maybe like a green wash over the top of the normal paint job.

Let me know what you guys think.

I don't suppose Handfull of Heroes has a Mysterio? That type would work unpainted.

Having a hard time thinking of them as Mysterio's Holographs if, as they are written now, they can be in an army without Mysterio.

I prefer it if these guys are Mysterio specific myself.

Using the older figure for this design along with the actual Mysterio figure seems best to me. We can paint the figure white, then give it a glossy light blue wash to make it look like an illusion.

I can go for that Griff. :up: I think green might be more fitting than blue though for the Holographs because green is incorporated into Mysterio's color scheme and it will also be on the Army Card border.

OK, here's some more ideas to go along with the theme.

To replace Lights Out:

If we wanted to give them some additional defense I could remove the no LEA and move through bit from THE SETUP and give them INTANGIBILITY which would seem fitting.

Or if we wanted to get the theme across that I tried to put on Smoke and Mirrors...

Also, if these guys are only draftable if you have Mysterio, which is fine and makes sense, I don't mind if they had an attack value of 0,1 or 2. Though as Bats has brought out an attack value of 0 will still allow someone to attack if they have height advantage. I'd rather not create a new power saying they can't attack. Maybe it could be incorporated in the LASER PROJECTIONS power though?

Just had another thought for these guys

What if all of their stats are 0 and we give them Intangibility.

It won't prevent them from attacking, but you'd never give them an Order Marker with Move 0 and Attack 0. So they'd only move when they're moved with the Laser Projections power by Mysterio.

Mysterio's Holographs can move through all figures and obstacles such as ruins, and is never attacked when leaving an engagement. Mysterio's Holographs cannot be targeted by an opponent's non-adjacent figure for any attack or special power that requires clear sight.

I don't know if they need a move of 0 or a range of 0 ... And I could even see an attack of 1 for how Mysterio rigs traps. But I really dig the defense of 0 and intangibility given how easily these guys can come back.

Yeah, I didn't even notice the range of 0, though I wonder if they were on a ladder and were directly underneath someone with a range of 0.... nah.... they need a range of 1. :lol:
