That's interesting. I wouldn't mind dropping Apparation and letting him start the game those Glyphs. There is already an Invisibility Cloak Glyph, So we would just need a Broom and Marauder's Map. That would be fun. I think the Marauder's Map should let you get an initiative bonus if you have OMs on the army card of the figure carrying the Glyph. Since Harry would know where everyone is, he could better plan his assault.

I forgot about that treasure glyph.

So, a broom glyph gives Harry Flying and adds maybe 2 to his move (take Harry's move down to 5). What if Marauder's Map gives an initiative boost and forces your opponent to reveal which figure has the X marker?

Since HoF is Classic Scape, any magical items we create should be Treasure glyphs. Any glyph power for Harry could then use the other Treasure Glyphs already created. I think it might be too powerful to equip Harry with 3 glyphs at the start of the game. What if we have a power that would let you choose up to 2 and place others on the battlefield?

MAGICAL EQUIPMENT
At the start of the game, before placing figures, choose up to 6 different Treasure Glyphs. Place any 2 of the chosen glyphs this Army Card. Place the remaining Treasure Glyphs symbol side up on any empty space outside your start zone at least 8 spaces away from Harry Potter.

I like that a lot. I'll work something up incorporating these Glyphs tonight and work the details out.

What about a Pollyjuice potion glyph:

This figure may drink this potion before moving. This figure may then not be targeted for the remainder of the turn.

That's what the Invisibility Cloak does. ;)

NAME = Harry Potter

FACTION = Gryffindor Jandar

SPECIES = Human
UNIQUENESS = Unique Hero
CLASS = Wizard
PERSONALITY = Loyal

SIZE/HEIGHT = Medium 5

LIFE = 4

MOVE = 5
RANGE = 5
ATTACK = 4
DEFENSE = 5

POINTS = .

MAGICAL EQUIPMENT
At the start of the game, before placing figures, choose up to 6 different Treasure Glyphs. Place any 2 of the chosen glyphs on this Army Card and 2 on the Army Cards of any other Heroes you control. Place the remaining Treasure Glyphs symbol side up on any empty space outside your start zone at least 8 spaces away from Harry Potter.

EXPELLIARMUS!
Instead of attacking, Harry Potter may choose a Unique Hero within 5 clear sight spaces. Roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 6 or higher, the chosen hero Range is reduced to 1 and that hero rolls one fewer attack die for the remainder of the round.

STUPEFY
If Harry Potter inflicts a wound on a figure with his normal attack, the player controlling that figure must remove the lowest numbered order marker from that figure's card.

Permanent Treasure Glyphs:
Glyph of Firebolt
(Move +2 and Flying)
This figure may move two additional spaces when Flying. When counting spaces for this figure's movement, ignore elevations. This figure may fly over water without stopping, pass over figures without becoming engaged, and fly over obstacles such as ruins. When this figure starts to fly, if it is engaged it will take any leaving engagement attacks.

Glyph of Maurader's Map
(Tactical Advantage)
When you roll for initiative you may add 2 to your roll. If you win initiative, you may choose one opponent. That opponent must remove an "X" Order Marker from an Army Card he or she controls.

Glyph of Gryffindor's Sword
(Melee Attack +2)
This figure rolls two additional attack dice against adjacent figures.

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Looks good!

-----------

I looked through about every Heroclix figure and quite a few of the Reaper minis seeking a figure for Harry. There's no figure that truly resembles Harry and none that carry a wand in modern clothing or even in anything resembling Hogwarts style robes (that I could find).

Here are some options in Heroclix that should be relatively easy to mod. They would all represent an older Harry (from the last 3-4 movies):

Peter Parker, Web of Spiderman 008
http://www.hcrealms.com/units/ws008.jpg
He'd need a paint job to get rid of that gosh-awful shirt. He'd also need a wand and glasses. The clothes are similar enough to what Harry wears off-campus in the later movies.

Matt Murdock, Incredible Hulk 022
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...es/murdock.jpg
He's got glasses, but they're rose-colored. The suit doesn't quite fit Harry. The cane should be fairly easy to remove in favor of a wand.

Ben Reilly, Web of Spiderman 024
http://www.hcrealms.com/units/ws024.jpg
The clothes would fit nicely. Like Peter Parker, he needs a wand and some glasses. The hair would need to be painted. The drawback is we've already used this figure for Samuel Sullivan (without modifications).

John Jameson, Incredible Hulk 008
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...ohnjameson.jpg
Clothes OK. Needs glasses and a wand.

Rick Jones, Incredible Hulk 025
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a.../rickjones.jpg
Same figure as John Jameson with different colors. Same issues.

Bruce Banner, Incredible Hulk 002
http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/a...rucebanner.jpg
Has glasses, but it may be hard to make the lab coat look right.

There were other figures with glasses, but they looked too old. There are other generic civilian figures, but none that really even resembled Harry. Anybody else have any suggestions?

This guy would probably be the easiest to mod. He's just need a wand (which would fit well into the left hand there), glasses, black hair and a scar. All fairly easy modifications.

Works for me. I think I have that figure. If so, I'll try it out.

I do have a question about EXPELLIARMUS! Do we need to specify "normal range" or is this intended to affect special attacks as well?

Re: Heroes of Fiction: Design Thread

Well since special attacks are never modified, I don't think we have an issue here. The only way to modify a special attack is within it's text or by negating it.

And cool. Make sure you definitely paint his hair black and give him the scar. Both are as iconic for him as the glasses and wand.

That's fine. Just trying to think through potential game table arguments.
