vegie's C3V/SoV Power Rankings
 

This is the vegie version of the C3V power rankings. A lot of credit goes to dok for maintaining the list that I used as a starting point; this is kind of a vegie fork of the dok power rankings.

In general I most skewed rankings downward. I think dok's rankings have had a bit of grade inflation as figures tend to placed pretty highly when they are released and aren't ever moved down after that hype fades. So I've sent a few things down. I'm pretty happy with the A+ to B+ section of competitively viable figures and how I've rated them, but it's maybe a bit different from their comparative rating in traditional power rankings as things have been fanned out so that B is the center instead of B+. I think there is a lot of experimentation left to do in the C3V meta, especially with figures B+ and below: very easily some A minus figures lurking in there. What I really want to do is continue the conversation on the VC meta.

I feel like a kid in a candy store. Much appreciation, vegie. A new set of power rankings (and that people think new ones are needed) says the meta is alive and kicking, which isn’t a guarantee that the game is healthy, but is a good indicator, I think.

I’m afraid I don’t have much certainty to contribute; I’ve never been the power-gaming type.

Not a VC unit, but I’m always interested to see where people place the Mohican River Tribe in their power rankings. It seems like they were hyped up, like a lot of Wave 9, but there’s little chatter in the Book beyond the initial speculation and calculations of probabilities; less time for people to tail off like in other books, I suppose. I’m curious as to how they ended up as a flat B in your opinion (with no implied judgement from me as to whether they do or don’t merit that, I’m genuinely curious).

I've always liked the Mohicans - flexible light infantry is fun - but they don't quite have enough men or enough reliability to be amazing, and I almost never manage to make use of their bonding (although I think part of that is that Brave Arrow's not really strong enough to make a point of using it).
B feels right to my eyes, maybe a fun B-.

Sounds a little too presumptuous, IMHO but... I totally understand your point here, and it's always better having various point of view and cross the things up following one's preference than a unique reference.
None of them will be substantially better than another, just different.

So I moved the Mohicans to a flat B from a B+ as part of the ranking fan down. I think they are a a fairly close call between that B+ tier and the B tier though. They're a tough call because they're pretty reliant on how well they are played, but I see them as more along the power level of Hounds/Drones/Microcorp than Cutters/Minions/Warforged.

Interesting, but I disagree. I think they’re one of the strongest B+’s (and certainly better than Minions and Warforged). They have a really low floor, but quite a high ceiling, and don’t get screwed as much by bad matchups as the Warforged and Minions. Minions just don’t get to play the game against half the cast, and Warforged are even worse IMO: too slow against range, and not efficient enough against bonding melee.

I think Mohicans do have some bad matchups. Like Mimring is especially terrible for them but any other ranged figure that bypasses concealment is brutal. That's the obvious counter but I think Mohicans really struggle killing heroes period. I got handed Dad Scaper's Mohicans in the Main Event this year and Major X17 went off against them because they just couldn't pump damage on to him fast enough.

I think the best game I've seen from Mohicans was Bring 2 2014 when Major Q23 picked Mohicans x5, Brave Arrow against my Deathchasers x4, MBS, Nerak, Raelin. They were able to contend against Deathchasers, but the game didn't ever get super close.

I am fairly confident that I've played you a couple of times at GenCon and gotten slaughtered each time. You don't remember me beating you, ever, do you? Because that would give me a moment of joy, in these dark days. If that happened.

You beat me maybe back in 2014? It was Assassin's Creed, and you teleported Tul-Bak-Ra into my start zone and killed my target by the end of the second round.
