Character Bio - Hal Jordan considers himself the world's greatest Green Lantern, and he has the track record to back that claim up. But during the Blackest Night, even he was having trouble.

At the peak of the Blackest Night, Nekron summoned the Life Entity in an attempt to kill it - because doing so would extinguish all life as we know it. Sinestro absorbed the Life Entity in an attempt to combat Nekron, becoming the first White Lantern, but the power quickly overwhelmed him.

Hal Jordan then absorbed the Life Entity himself, but he also spread its power alongside all of Earth's heroes who had previously been resurrected, making them all White Lanterns. Their combined powers managed to bring the undead Black Lantern herald, Black Hand, back to life. This cut off Nekron's link to the world of the living, and so Nekron was able to be defeated and the universe was saved.

NAME = WHITE LANTERN
SECRET IDENTITY = HAL JORDAN

SPECIES = HUMAN
UNIQUENESS = EVENT HERO
CLASS = SAVIOR
PERSONALITY = FEARLESS
SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5

LIFE = 4
MOVE = 9
RANGE = 5
ATTACK = 7
DEFENSE = 7
POINTS = 580

WHITE LIFE BATTERY 4
Start the game with 4 white Battery Markers on this card. For the entire game, White Lantern, and any Unique Hero you control that is not a White Lantern, adds one to its Life number for each white Battery Marker on its card. Before taking a turn with White Lantern, you may remove a white Battery Marker from this card to remove 2 Wound Markers from this card.

LIGHT IN THE DARK 17
After taking a turn with White Lantern, if he is engaged, roll the 20-sided die, adding 1 to the roll for each card in your army with at least one white Battery Marker on it. If you roll 17 or higher, take an additional turn with 1 White Lantern or up to 2 other Unique Heroes you control with white Battery Markers on their cards. You may not take any additional turns with other figures you control.

BRIGHTEST DAY
Whenever a Unique Hero you control would be destroyed, if it is within 6 clear sight spaces of White Lantern, is not an Android, Construct, or Undead, and does not have a white Battery Marker on its card, you may instead remove a white Battery Marker from this card and place it on that figure's card. That Hero is not destroyed and takes no damage.

Does the healing concept here sort of take away anything from the blues?

Re: The Book of White Lantern (Hal Jordan) (breathing)

White Lantern Hal is going to be a lot more expensive than the Blues, so I don't think they take away from each other. Blues are pretty limited to Green Lantern armies too, and I imagine this design will have other figures it works best with.

Also he's an Event Hero and I think the White Lantern faction is ultimately going to be much smaller (Hal, Kyle, Sinestro, anybody else?).

I mean there are a ton but how many really need designs? Like is WL Green Arrow really doing too much for us?

How many have Clix? (Seeing more than I thought on a quick Google, but don't care a whit for White Lantern Ice or White Lantern Batman ...).

Re: The Book of White Lantern (Hal Jordan) (breathing)

I'm pretty sure there's around 17 White Lantern clix. 13 heroes were initially White Lanterns in Blackest Night, and they made them for Batman, Simon Baz, Swamp Thing, and Kyle Rayner as well. Most are kinda expensive, with the exception of Kyle.

I have no intention of running future White Lantern designs except Kyle in the far future (who would be pretty different). LV mentioned maybe doing White Lantern Superboy.

Scapey had one for Swamp Thing that I think would be worth pursuing. Not a faction I think there's a lot of interest in going big on, though.

Re: The Book of White Lantern (Hal Jordan) (breathing)

I think it's going to be slightly hard to wrap your head around his Life number. So he essentially has 8 Life to begin with, but whenever you burn a Marker, you go down one Life and get rid of one marker. So like... I guess that's still 8 Life, in practical terms?

Like, he has 6 Wounds on his card, so he has 2 remaining Life. You burn a marker. Now he's down to 5 Wounds, but still has 2 remaining Life. I guess it's just to build in a higher wound threshold for him, which is fine, but you'll have to get used to it. He's an Event Hero so that's fine by me.

If a friendly figure is hit with an auto-destroy power, they're just out of luck if you try using Brightest Day, right? I could go either way on that, but if I'm paying 400+ for a "my guys don't die" figure I'd kind of like "that figure is not destroyed" on there.

I think his base Move and Range should match a maxed-out GL Hal - 9 Move, 5 Range. I can see dropping his Move if we're insistent on that, but I don't see any reason he'd have less Range than his weaker incarnation. If he price goes up a bit, that's cool, he's an Event Hero.

Those are just tweaks though - I really like him as "the standard" for White Lanterns and I'm glad someone is finally running with a draft for him! I think he'll be a really cool centerpiece for all sorts of armies. :up:
