Small Box Games presents 2 new games:Now on BGG!

Small Box Games is proud to present two new games: Elemental Rift and Temple.

Temple on BGG

Elemental Rift on BGG

These two games will be released the first week of March, and discounted preordering for these games is available now through March 1st.

While these games have been submitted to BGG, they have yet to be accepted, so in the mean while, you can view more about these games at their respective pages on www.smallboxgames.com where you can read descriptions, rules, and look at a few pictures of the components:

Temple

Elemental Rift

**the Elemental Rift page was down for 10 minutes or so, for some reason, after this was posted, but it's back up now.

Awesome John...I was gonna order Politico cause everyone has been raving about it...now I guess I can just order all 3

Doc_Savage February 24th, 2008 12:34 AM

John - you're got an extra comma in your web address up there ^...

Hendal February 24th, 2008 05:10 PM

I say get both, cause Politico rocks, a great game the wife enjoys playing.

John what happened to Twenty-Two? It is no longer listed as a Small Box Games future release ...

justjohn February 25th, 2008 03:53 AM

No worries, Mal. Twenty-Two will be out some time this year. I'm considering using twenty-two's theme with another game that I have finished, so I took down the information, because I haven't quite decided yet.

Eventually, all the games I have finished will be added with box art and information, which would take me well into next year:

Seven Days of Strife
Ronin
Totem
Speakeasy
Cartographers
Aurikka
Shipwrights
Catch O' The Day
Nummy Nummy Nummy
Klondike
Reigns of War
Twenty-Two
Rapa Tiki

If only I had more time and money.

Oddly enough, JustJohn has indeed created a game based on Break Dancing! It is called b-battle and no, I am not making this up.

That is a very short and accurate commentary on life.......

Add in death and taxes....

Hendal February 25th, 2008 02:12 PM

B-ball -- on no you didn't just do that, Hendal starts to bust a move.................................he is throwing down his cardboard and going at it!

Onacara February 25th, 2008 02:50 PM

Onacara now wondering if Hendal ever went by the name "Pop'nFresh" :ponder:

Billtog February 25th, 2008 04:42 PM

:excited:
I pre-ordered them both about five minutes after I heard.

But still, we want Twenty-Two!

:D

justjohn February 26th, 2008 04:07 PM

I guess you guys will just have to settle on twenty-one, if you're not willing to wait patiently for twenty-two. :)

And yeah, I did make a break dancing card game a while back. Most of the mechanics are now being used in Rapa Tiki, though.

Hendal February 27th, 2008 07:13 AM

a game based on a game based on break dancing - Oh no you did not- PopNFresh busts a move and the crowd go wild!

Doc_Savage February 27th, 2008 02:56 PM

John - now I'm interested in Rapa Tiki because I liked the mechanics and game flow in B-Battle....

Once I get my PayPal balance a little better I'll order one of the new games...

Found my new Small Box Games in the P.O. Box this morning. I can't wait to bug my wife into playing them with me this evening.

justjohn March 4th, 2008 11:45 AM

Awesome.

Did you get the email about the missing card?

Please let me know how it goes!

HSisforcoolkids March 4th, 2008 09:26 PM

Yeah I got the email and am looking forward to the package. I played my first game of Temple tonight with the wife. First off, the artwork is really good in Temple. The board, the pieces, and the cards all fit really well together. The plastic pieces in Politico didn't bother me, but I really appreciate the wooden pieces in Temple.

We both liked the game a lot. We didn't have time tonight to play a second game tonight, so we had to put it off until tomorrow. I am looking forward to playing now that we have a good grasp on the rules. My initial impression is that the game would shine with 3 people. If I have any further impressions I will post them later. I will be gving this a good rating on BGG after I get a few more games under my belt.

HSisforcoolkids March 9th, 2008 10:42 PM

I've played Temple a few more times, once with 4 players. The new players picked up the game easily and enjoyed it, and they usually only play party games. I felt like the board was a little cramped with four players, but was still a bunch of fun. I like it a little better with two players than with four, but I really want to play it with three players. I can't wait to play Elemental Rift. I whole-heartedly recommend Temple to anyone thinking of buying it.

sadly I do not own any of these games mostly because I have noone to play them with :-(

I was wondering though...

Are all of the boxes the same size?

Like does John make the game to fit the box or the box to fit the game?

And if they are the same size what are the actual box deimensions?

I can't comment on Politico, Temple or Rift, but Dirge is 6.5L x 4W x 2H. Surprisingly, there is a bunch of content in these small boxes.

As an owner of all 4 games thus far, I can state categorically that the size of all 4 boxes are the same... weight, though, is a different matter.
