That’s correct.

Re: Diplomacy

You can always uncheck the "Wait for Deadline" button, and if everyone does so, it will run the turn.

Re: Diplomacy

It does look like everyone has submitted updates, but someone must still have the "wait until deadline to process" box checked. Ah well.

Re: Diplomacy

It may be that the person in question wants the ensuing movement phase to begin on Monday. I have no objection to that, if it's the case.

The "set wait" feature, as it used to be called, serves two purposes: it allows diplomacy, where desired, in the current phase, and it also allows an indirect manipulation of game deadlines. Both are acceptable and expected uses of the feature.

Re: Diplomacy

I am personally kind of ambivalent about playing another game as well. Not because of the betrayal and backstabbing - that's the point, right? - but because of a combination of the game taking a really long time and the interface being a bit clunky. It's a bit of a slog even when things are going well, and if I feel inevitable doom closing in it will be pretty hard to motivate continuing to put forth all the effort in sending the messages.

It uses a lot of time and energy, for sure.

Quoted for truth.

The intellectual energy sink is considerable. I've never played a game that is so demanding. I think the time between seasons plus the lack of randomNess makes for a perfect storm of guessing and second guessing.

Definitely a masochistic game.

Yup. It definitely used to mess with my sleep, especially when I was new to the game.
