The Book of Doppelganger

Character Bio - The creature known as Doppelganger boasts powers similar to Spider-Man's, but trades intelligence for animal ferocity. He was created by the Magus, as part of a plan to keep Earth's heroes busy while the Magus made his play at the Infinity Gauntlet. After surviving the Magus' machinations, Doppelganger joined up with Carnage's "family" of killers. He has grown particularly attached to Shriek, seeming to think of her as a mother, and often appears alongside her.

• Q: When using Six-Armed Assault Special Attack, what happens if you end up with only 1 die left at the end?
  A: Because you can attack in 2s, 3s, or 4s, it is possible to end up with one die leftover with no use at the end, you do not get to make an attack of 1 so keep that in mind when choosing how many dice to throw for each attack.

Instead of moving and attacking, you may choose a non-adjacent small or medium figure within 4 clear sight spaces of Doppelganger. Place Doppelganger adjacent to the chosen figure or place the chosen figure adjacent to Doppelganger. After using this special power, roll one unblockable attack die against the chosen figure. Figures moved by Razor Web Slinger will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

SIX-ARMED ASSAULT SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 1. Attack 2, 3, or 4.
Start the attack with 12 attack dice. You may attack with 2, 3, or 4 attack dice until all 12 attack dice have been rolled.

SWING LINE 3
Instead of his normal move, Doppelganger may move up to 3 spaces with Swing Line. When moving with Swing Line, Doppelganger has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 40 levels in a single swing, and will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Took the feedback I got in the LCW thread into consideration here and changed his Triple Attack into a SA to prevent him being OP with Star-Lord/Cap. Clone changed to Fractal as he's not a true Clone. And since I dropped his range to the SA, I gave him a beefier normal attack.

Fractal is a geometric term. Doesn't mean anything about clones.

Just to be super clear, this guy's not a clone because he doesn't share any DNA with Spider-Man. He's just sort of a weird imitation that the Magus whipped up. Like the bio notes, it's not even really clear whether or not he counts as being alive.

So he's a bit hard to categorize species-wise, but he's not really any kind of variation on human.

The brief allusions to his origin in the comics say that he was created from some kind of living fractal, which isn't a thing that makes sense, because a fractal is just a sort of recursive shape. But it's kind of a nod to his trippy Jim Starlin origins and there's nothing pressing that needs to be there for synergy/theme purposes, so... I like Fractal here. Don't believe there's an established species that really makes sense for him. :2cents:

My brief research says "Living Fractal" or "Manifestation" is probably as close as we would get, since he's made from whatever stuff that race is made from. If we wanted to stick to a previously established species, "Golem" is probably our closest bet, but I don't mind just giving him a unique one-off.

This guy's backstory is way, way weirder than I thought. :p

Power-wise I think he's pretty good. I miss the triple attack but get the reason to limit it to an SA - though I do think the name sounds a little "weak" for someone coming at you with six razor-sharp clawed arms.

Name is kinda a placeholder. I'm not in love with it. Open to suggestions there.

Entity is always an option too I guess. That’s kinda been our “I dunno, he’s made of energy or ideas or whatever” species in the past.

Fractal is cool!

Wondering if you’d want to limit his SA to only non-adjacent figures. Might make a bit of a cool dynamic, where he has to stay farther away. But not a big deal either way, whatever you prefer!
