The Book of Fire
The Book of Fire C3G DC WAVE 20 BATTLE FOR JUSTICE http://heroscapers.com/c3g/released/...Fire_comic.png Comic PDF http://heroscapers.com/c3g/released/..._Fire_mini.png Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Collateral Damage set. Its model number and name are #025 / Green Flame or #026-027 / Fire. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Beatriz Bonilla da Costa started as an amateur model on the beaches of Rio, then becoming a showgirl and stage performer before finding herself serving as a top secret agent for Brazilian government's SNI (Serviço Nacional de Informações - National Information Service), actually Abin (Agência Brasileira de Inteligência - Brazilian Intelligence Agency). In the course of one of her missions, Beatriz was trapped in a pyroplasmic explosion that endowed her with the unusual power of being able to exhale an eight-inch burst of fire. She assumed the identity of the Green Fury, and then soon changed it again to Green Flame. She joined the international superhero team the Global Guardians, of which she was a long-standing, loyal member. United Nations funding of the Guardians was withdrawn in the wake of the formation the Justice League International. Beatriz and best friend Icemaiden joined the short-handed Justice League International. Eventually, she once again changed her heroic name, this time to Fire in affinity with Icemaiden's shortening of her name to simply Ice. The aliens, Dominators, set off a "metagene bomb" in the upper atmosphere which affected almost all DC characters with superpowers and, after a period of illness, Fire found her powers greatly magnified as an after-effect. The "new" Fire was now able to completely turn into a being of green plasma, in which form she could fly and throw devastating blasts, similar to the Human Torch. Solid objects could pass completely through her form without causing injury. Beatriz remained with the Justice League International for the remainder of its existence — in fact she served the longest tenure of any JLI member. During this time, she was also trained in the arts of battle by Big Barda. Beatriz as a skilled investigator and espionage agent was considered a valuable asset by Checkmate chief Amanda Waller for her ability and willingness to kill in order to complete missions. _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications-

Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
NAME = FIRE
SECRET IDENTITY = BEATRIZ BONILLA DA COSTA SPECIES = METAHUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = CELEBRITY PERSONALITY = IMPULSIVE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 4 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 4 DEFENSE = 4 POINTS = 150 FIREBALL SPECIAL ATTACK Range 5. Attack 4. If Fire inflicts 1 or more wounds on a figure with this special attack, before placing Wound Markers, you may choose either the defending figure or a figure adjacent to the defending figure. After wounds are placed, roll 1 unblockable attack die against the chosen figure for each wound inflicted in that attack. Figures with the Lava Resistant special power are not affected by this special attack. INCORPOREAL Opponents' figures must be adjacent to Fire to attack her with a normal or special attack. Fire is never attacked when leaving an engagement. LAVA RESISTANT Fire never rolls for molten lava damage or lava field damage and does not have to stop in molten lava spaces. FLYING |
Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
All vetted powers, and they all fit, so no complaints from me. :-)
I'd go Celebrity for the class, rather than creating a new class here. |
Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Yeah, I can live with that.
Celebrity seems a bit odd as she's an ex-model (since she's also an ex-secret agent), but it's a cool class that we don't use enough, so I'm good with it. |
Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Looks good and straight forward.

Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Not sure why she has Intangibility as her body is still under the fire. Other than that, great design!

Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
I presumed the same, but a look at DC Wikia says she has the power to turn herself intangible, so I can roll with it.

Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I recall that in the version of her that turns her whole body into green flames (not the version where she remains clothed & it's just her hair - because the clix isn't of that version), she was basically all flames & projectiles passed right through her. Granted I don't recall that she ever went through walls but this was the simplest mechanic that represented the ability.

Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Hmm... good point about moving through obstacles, I don't want to see that. Maybe use Insubstantial off of the Phantom Knights instead?
INSUBSTANTIAL X Fire adds X additional defense dice when rolling defense against a normal attack from a figure who is not adjacent. |
Re: The Book of Fire - Design Phase
Yeah, I could see that. I could see making Insubstantial the same as Invisible without the disengage, but I'm not sure if the theme is 100% there. And, yeah, worth noting that she doesn't turn invisible as part of what she does (in fact she's still bright and green) so it does make a lot of sense to get rid of the clear sight stuff.
