TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #111
Dawn of Darkness is now fully written. It weighs in at 148 pages and 70K+ words, although that number might shift slightly as I proofread and edit. Editing might take a few days - for some reason I found myself making a lot of typos and other errors as I wrote, so I expect there to be a lot to fix.
You can probably expect to see DoD posted and ready for viewing by the end of this week or before.
While you wait, I will again highly suggest you re-read Valkyrie. Even if you remember the main events, it's the little details which are referenced constantly in DoD, including one revelation which is hinted at, but never actually told in Valkyrie. It's only 16 chapters. A quick read.
DoD will of course be released with the usual accompaniment of maps, introduction, and post-text author's note. And it will be released on my website, the top of which is rapidly running out of room (it might...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #110
Well it's been a bit.
The reason there haven't been any updates, is because... there haven't been any updates. Dawn of Darkness has continued to progress, and there has been no earth-shattering news relating to my writing endeavors.
However, I have this morning completed the first (and final) draft for DoD. For me, this is a cross between an outline and the final product - scenes are written out in story-form, but some edges might still be rough, and there's room for refinement. All of which will happen during the actual writing. This has also given me an opportunity to identify any shortcomings now, rather than while I'm writing the story, thus enabling me to fix them next time around. So that's a plus.
My last suggested release date for DoD was sometime in September, and that... has actually not changed. Depending on how long the writing takes, it could end up in early November,...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #109
If there's one thing writing these FFCs has taught me (and probably others as well), it's that I cannot be trusted in my predictions of what is to come.
I've learned to give things time to change - at least a week - before I make any announcements about what fan fiction is or is not coming. This has worked for the most part, keeping me from making wild predictions based on a single day of interest (or lack thereof).
For that reason, when, back in June, I lost all interest in the writing of Dawn of Darkness, my latest fan fiction, I gave things a week before calling it. During that week, I had absolutely zero interest in the story. It was 100% dead. I had turned to my novels, and had no desire to return to DoD. So I called it. I said DoD was likely shelved, and that no fan fiction was currently in the works.
I did give myself one caveat, saying that I could get a new idea for the story...

TGRF's Reviews
TGRF Reviews: Edgedancer
I generally read whatever introductory material there is before a story, and I'm glad I do so, because the introduction to the third book in the Stormlight Archive, Oathbringer, contained a suggestion to read a short novella which took place between books two and three. That novella was Edgedancer.
I did some research on how required the story was. One review said that it dealt with an important plot point, which Oathbringer otherwise skimmed over. I didn't want to unjustly find fault with anything I planned on reviewing, so a few days later, I acquired Edgedancer from the library and settled down to read.
Ratings:
5: Amazing, above flawless.
4: Flawless, but doesn't really stand out.
3: Might have some issues, but works fine.
2: Has some issues which might detract from the media.
1: Flawed, bring the media down noticeably.
Title: Edgedancer
Author: Brandon Sanderson...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #108
I wanted to give my readers a quick update on the status of DoD.
Over the past month or so, even before I started the development for DoD over, I've been having trouble sticking with it. I will sit down to develop what should an easy and straight forward part, only to lose interest soon after and switch over to something else.
In the last week, I've stopped trying to develop DoD completely, and have turned my attention to my novels instead. At this point there is no guarantee that I will return to DoD.
Despite the fact that this seems to be coming out of nowhere, it's been coming along for awhile now. Several times while developing, I would feel a deep lack of interest in the story. Some parts I enjoyed, yes, but the story as a whole never really gripped my imagination.
This is probably because I never planned on writing a sequel to my Utgar story. There was room for...
