So there was a post in the Forums today that got me thinking about what makes a great game.
So I figured I would put my thoughts down in my blog and see what I came up with.
#1
The game must be fun, no one likes to play a game that is not fun, that is why it is called a game for crying out loud.
#2
The game must be simple to learn. It is no fun to have to wade through pages and pages of rules to learn how to play. We have all played games like this and most of the time they do not last, because no one can play because they get board with reading the rules.
#3
The game must not only be simple to learn, but difficult to master. This is something that I feel is very important. If a person can master a game in a matter of minutes it is really worthless. An example of this would be when me and my brothers got our first Nintendo Entertainment System and we got the game Contra. My brother and I beat it in about 3 hours....

So I want to play HS, but one of the challenges of playing is that when I drive to the gas station, to get gas so I can drive accross the steet to FredMeyer and purchase new Troops, but when I get there I find that I have no money in my wallet, because I just spent it all on Gas about 5 minutes before.
I could always walk to FredMeyer, purchase my Troops then walk back home, but when I try to drive to my buddies house and play with my new Troops I find that I have no money in my wallet for gas so I can't get to his home.
So I call my buddy, and he tells me he just bought some new Troops and wants to play but he can't drive to my house because his wallet is empty!
What is a new HS to do?

So I love HS and I love playing, unfortunatly I find myself haveing to do things I don't want to do, like go to work, or take a shower. Man if there were a way I could do that and yet play HS that would be great!
Of course my wife would tell me, "Stop playing or else I will quit cooking for you!" That would be very bad.
My son would be like, "But Dad we already played like 12 times today, I have to go to bed because I have school in the morning." That would not be good.
My job would say, "You need to actually work and stay off that website, Heroscapers.com" That just won't do!
My bill collectors would call me and say, "What do you mean you don't have any money, what do you spend it on?" That would not be real good either.
My HS buddy would call me up, "When can we play again, I just picked up some new armies and I want to try them out?" Now that would be good!
