I don't get people acting like this set finally allows you to play story-driven Heroscape. The ability to play story-driven Heroscape has always been there. The Scenario Writers Guild will happily tell you that, I'm sure. The scenarios in past master sets have not been any less story-driven. And there's only ONE in the D&D booklet. Yes, they're adding more scenarios online now- but they did that with the other master sets, too.

This is perhaps the best way to explain my confusion about the excitement about this set (outside of the general excitement about 'new scape is good scape, which I agree with):

Imagine this. Master Set 3 comes out without the D&D tag. Perhaps they still recycled the figures, perhaps not- that doesn't really matter. But anyway, it's just Master Set 3. D&D isn't, and never was involved (again, except...

So, I could mean "what's the big deal?" as in "Why are people so upset with mixing D&D and Heroscape?". Because I am on the "any Heroscape is good Heroscape" side of things. So remember that when reading the rest of this. I had impressions (and so did others, based on the things I see around the forums/blogs) that Master Set 3 was really going to have a D&D flavor- a dungeon crawl! Frigging sweet!

Instead it's recycled miniatures (of course we've known that for a while), black tiles that act just like jungle pieces, and a scenario just like at the end of every other rulebook- except that if a figure dies, he doesn't move on to the next 'room' (read: the next scenario map). It's "Heroscape Master Set 3: A Series Of Gray Maps". I suppose I just got the wrong impression, but I'm baffled. People were talking about how it will change/add to the tournament landscape/structure, etc... and all I can think after reading the rulebook...

So I played in a 10 player tournament today, and won 1st place overall! 4 wins, 0 losses, 1 tie (making my overall tourney record 5w-3l-1t).

The tournament was 535pts with one C- or worse unit.

I played:
Marro Hive
Marro Drudge x5
Airborne Elite
Otonashi

The Airborne elite were my ace every single game. Not much time to type up anymore, I just wanted to post this. Thanks Chuck for hosting- it was a great time with great games, company, and food!

I feel like typing for some reason, so here we go. Played a game of Heroscape today- Knights + Templar + Dupuis vs. Romans + Archers+ Marcus+ Spider-Man. The Romans kicked my ass.

I've been playing alot of video games lately, since I've had the free time with my wife being out of town for work. Dragon Age is amazing. I can't say enough good things about it. I keep trying to describe it to non-RPG friends. Mass Effect meets Fable? That's my best try. Anyway, I'm playing a Dwarf (commoner) Warrior, dual-wielding. I'm only level 6 right now, working on the main questline in Orzammar.

Please don't post any spoilers, thanks

Also been playing alot of NBA 2k10. Running an Atlanta Hawks association. Simmed through two years, making a few trades along the way. My starting lineup is looking like this:

PG- rookie, 65ish
SG- Joe Johnson
SF- Luol Deng
PF- Josh Smith
C- Dwight Howard

Yeah,...

And I cannot wait to have a second dwarf hero. I could type more, but I <3 Axegrinders really sums it up.
