Customs Creation
Criticism: Giving and Taking
Author: Scytale

Creating custom Heroscape units is a lot of fun. Even more fun is seeing them played in games. You can create all the customs you like and play them in your home games; plenty of people do so and have great fun doing it. Some like to take that next step and share their creations with the online Heroscapers community. Of course, it’s nice when someone else prints out and uses your designs in their games (as a creator, there is no greater compliment), but the true value of our generous community is in their invaluable critiques. Refining a unit with your own playtesting and your local group is all well and good, but the broad experiences, varied tastes, and discerning eyes of the people that frequent the customs community can really help to raise your customs to the next level.

C3G Strategy Guide
Scarlet Spider (Kaine Parker)
By: Ronin

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Clone
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Vigilante
Personality – Conflicted
Size/Height – Medium 5

Being a clone comes with a few synergies; two of those are the cloning powers of Arnim Zola and Jackal. Generally, those powers are best used as an insurance policy for very high-value heroes, or as a way of getting your hooks into an opponent’s hero. Scarlet Spider is a respectable mid-level bruiser, but he isn’t nasty enough to be a go-to option for either of them to clone. It is feasible that he could be a backup option for Arnim Zola. Jackal, on the other hand, requires you to commit to a specific

C3G Interview
Author: Scapemage & Tornado

Fellow Heroscapers, please join me in a journey back to the earlier days of C3G when no one had any idea that this group was built to last. Originally posted on 8–25–2011.

How long have you followed C3G? What was the first set you remember?

I’ve followed C3G since right around the release of World’s Finest, which is still an awesome set. I still haven’t played a few scenarios from that though. Someday soon ....

I started playtesting for the X-Men set, which was a lot of fun. My first playtests were on Ravaged Road, which was the first map I made for the C3G mapmaking group, which Griffin invited me to because I expressed some strong opinions (like I usually do) and I guess some of my Valhalla maps looked okay.

DC or Marvel?

I hadn’t

C3G Strategy Guide
By: Lazy Orang

I’ve always loved mythology, ever since I was very young. I also enjoy Heroscape battles that turn into fast-paced, bloodsoaked massacres. Let’s have a look at a unit that scratches both itches, shall we?

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Olympian (no effect)
Uniqueness – Event Hero (event heroes are similar to unique heroes, but they have extra defenses, e.g. they cannot be mind-controlled or auto-killed, and do not count as unique heroes for the purposes of special powers—read the full event hero rules)
Class – Warlord (no effect in pure C3G, though he is able to bond with the Roman Legionnaires if playing mixed—at which stage you’re legally obliged to call him

Contest Review
Wastelands of Valhalla
Author: BiggaBullfrog

Time for another Contest Review, the part of the blog where we reminisce on past contests and look at what mapmakers were able to create for the Heroscape community to enjoy.

Contest Overview

“Wastelands of Valhalla” was the fourth ARV map contest. In the same vein as the previous contests, participants got to submit up to two of their creations that met the wasteland theme. It was a theme we judges were really excited about and one that sparked a lot of imagination among the map creators in our community.

We had 18 submissions this contest, coming from 14 different users. This gave us a good variety of maps for the contest, with many different styles represented. Big maps, small maps, crazy terrain and glyph combinations,
