C3G Strategy Guide
Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang)
Author: Lazy Orang

Since C3G’s first Mortal Kombat set has just dropped, I thought now would be good time to take a look at one of the most interesting new kombatants it’s brought to the Battle of All Time.

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Cryomancer (no actual synergy, but having a unique species helps when pairing him with Star-Lord)
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Warrior (provides a Justice League marker to Martian Manhunter (II) and Superman (III))
Personality – Determined (irrelevant)
Size/Height – Medium 5 (manoeuverable, can use ladders, and can be affected by a number of beneficial powers such as Carry, but also vulnerable to

’Scaper of the Month
Lazy Orang
Author: quozl

Lazy Orang is a C3G sidekick and prolific Codex contributor. Read on to learn more about this … capybara?

PROFILE

Who are you really?
I am an anthropomorphic capybara (my user name is just a decoy). Members of my family often become exasperated with me, but once they remember my capybaric nature, everything falls into place, and makes sense to them again. I may have manifested from an alternate, rodent-infested dimension in a gentle attempt to slow the frenetic pace of modern life through the sheer power of my inertia, but I cannot be quite sure.

My human name is Rowan Drake.

How old are you?
Over 2,300 years old, though my current incarnation has only reached the meagre age of 20.

What is your occupation?
Freelance assassinations,

Map Spotlight
Ruins of Rennoc by Flash_19
Author: BiggaBullfrog

It’s that time again: the time when we take the time to look at a map and discuss just what takes it from good to great. This time we’re looking at a map by Flash_19, a member who many consider to be not just one of the best creators currently active on the site, but also one of the best creators on the site as a whole. Today we’re highlighting one of his earliest maps: a gem from the “Wastelands of Valhalla” map competition called Ruins of Rennoc.

Map Bio:
Sergeant Drake Alexander stood at parade rest, watching as the bubbling lava slowly consumed a section of crumbling wall. It had only been a matter of time. Hidden geysers of molten lava were finally swallowing Rennoc, which...

Map Craft
Pre-set Glyphs
Author: By Sir Heroscape

Another installment of Map Craft coming your way! This time I’m taking you on a journey to the ever-difficult decision on whether to use pre-set glyphs on a map.

For starters, I’m not going to talk about the use of random power glyphs on a map, mainly because, for the most part, that’s the easy way out. Pre-set power glyphs show a map designer’s clear intent with the way they created the map and the way the game should be played with those glyphs in mind. Random glyphs are fine for a map that is fairly balanced and symmetrical and won’t be swayed much by one glyph or another. But, for maps—and mapmakers—that want to push the boundaries a little bit, pre-set power glyphs will help you to create and balance maps that, without those specific glyphs, likely wouldn’t be balanced at all. It’s

Customs Creation
Design Fundamentals
Author: Scytale

Articles on creating customs provide insight into many of the finer aspects of creating custom Heroscape units, a hobby that is far more intricate and challenging than it first appears. While these resources can be invaluable, their wisdom will likely fail you if you are not starting with a base of strong fundamentals. I’m talking about knowledge not only of the game and of the existing units, but of broad design patterns that emerge from looking at the official units as well as an understanding of the metagame. While this article is targeted at those new to custom creation, all of us can benefit from reviewing the fundamentals of custom design, including myself.

Different Heroscape units have different purposes. In my articles, I have repeatedly stressed the importance of understanding
