With the help of a few mathematically inclined 'Scapers I've created a papercraft dice bowl to match my Tower of Lodin dice tower. The hexagon shaped bowl features the logos of all six Valkyrie Generals and is easy to construct out of standard card stock.
This was one of the first papercraft projects I ever attempted, and I found myself quite pleased with the results. The instructions were clear, and the final product is sturdy and nice looking. Great job! I'm going to build the dice tower next.
As I have no printer, I blew up the page to 100% and took measurements off the screen and translated it to paper... a painstaking process, but probably easier than the prototype!
Have completed the base and two side panels, should breeze through the remaining 4 (now I have the measurements) I'll let you know.
Oh, and I bought some felt to line them with so we don't wake baby when tossing dice...
Well I did breeze through the remaining panels and when glued together it was millimetre perfect so I was pretty chuffed.
The felt job looks OK... I chose to put flap on the left external mountain fold (sloping sides) to tuck under the next felt layer. This was a flaw I think, it gives it an off kilter look (much like a water tile).
However the felt gluing went well: green for sides and into the bowl, glued in 2 stages - 1) glued a flap under the bowl. two, pulled it tight to glue it to the sloping side and cover the internal wall of the bowl. Blue for the centre of the bowl (this should have been glued first, no great loss however). and black felt for underneath (this looks awesome and sadly is the side no one will ever see ;( )
