C3G Interview - November 2018

C3G Interview
quozl
Author: Tornado and the C3G crew

Following up from the last old interview, here are some fresh questions for quozl. I recruited the other members of C3G to join in on this one and provide the questions for this long-standing member of C3G. First up, quozl has a question for himself ...

[quozl] What has changed with you in relation to Heroscape since the last interview in 2011?
I still love Heroscape but I play it a lot less than I did in 2011. My daughter and I have been exploring other games like Frostgrave and RPGs. We still play Heroscape once in a while but not nearly as much as we used to.

[Bats] What do you hope to see out of the next ten years of C3G?
I’d like to see a lot more scenarios, destructible objects, and obstacles added to the game.

[japes] I know you at one point played a lot with your family. Did their enjoyment of the game or non-enjoyment ever lead you to specific designs? Perhaps something or someone they really liked led you to design a specific character or design a character with a certain mechanic ... If so which ones?
Well, the whole reason I got into C3G Heroscape was because I thought it would fun to play superheroes with my daughter. I haven’t really designed anything for C3G specifically with either my wife or daughter in mind, but we have worked together doing our own custom units and I have absolutely loved it when my daughter started doing all her own stuff. Just recently, she ended her RPG campaign with a giant Heroscape battle and she custom designed a ton of units and spells to fit the RPG into Heroscape mechanics.

[Bats] What do you miss most about the people who are no longer with the project?
When I first joined, there was a lot of pioneering excitement in C3G as it was a custom Heroscape project that made it big. I mean, it was so successful that the leaders of C3G started up the C3V! There was a lot of competition back then to playtest the new designs and it was just really exciting in general to be a part of that. That’s what I miss most about the people who left the project. I loved their enthusiasm and their passion. Sadly, that sometimes diminishes or even leaves entirely but it’s something we can all remember and cherish.

[Spidey] More than any former Hero, you’ve stayed consistently active. Why did you step down? Have you ever thought about making a full comeback? Did you ever regret stepping down?
I’ve stayed active because I love C3G. Sadly, however, I just don’t have time for playtesting anymore so I thought I should step down and let the people who are playtesting step up. I’ve thought about playtesting more and coming back to C3G “full time” when I have more time. We’ll see what the future holds.

[Lobster] How did you acquire your legendary avatar picture?
Somebody (I forget who) posted it here on Heroscapers and I loved it because Grimnak is just the best. So I snagged that pic for my avatar!

[Bats] You recently mentioned wanting a new title. What does your old title mean to you? Why do you want a new one? And what would you hope a new one would express about you?
I was only in Promotions for a little while so I don’t think “Promo Pro” really fits anymore. I am curious, however, what people’s impressions of me are. Maybe you all could suggest titles for me!

[Scape] What was your first C3G design? Which design has been your favorite? Is there anything you consider to be really big on your bucket list still?
My first C3G design was Swamp Thing, which was also my first comic! I had the classic series, which was much more of a horror/weird tales comic rather than a superhero one. As for things I still want to design, take a look at my design workshop in the C3G forum!

I remember, when as hero, we were considering you Q for hero status. A lot of your suggested designs were dinosaur or Kaiju based. What was your driver back then for that path? (incidentally I was against it back then as we were still too young a group with a lot more super heroes to create.)
Q you were (& it seems still are) a great asset to C3G. A workhorse with lots of great ideas.

That was mostly because I didn't know superheroes very well back then but I did know that the Savage Land has lots of dinosaurs and who doesn't love dinosaur! You holding off on those did get me to start reading comics though so I thank you for that!

Great interview. I love the way the questions came from multiple sources. You guys are all down right impressive with your ability to keep the flame alive with C3G and Heroscape in general. Let me slip into character for a minute and just say, "I respected them as professionals now. A bullet to the back just wouldn't seem right. When the time is right, I'll give them the respect of seeing my grin as their final vision."

Q-zizzle, it's obvious that you enjoy playing games with your family and for that you have my utmost respect.
