So What Is Steamroller?
I have been all over Heroscapers blasting folks with Steamroller. Many of you are probably wondering what the heck is Steamroller? And an insignificant few of you are probably thinking STFU!
So anyway, I thought tonight, since I have relaxed with a glass or 3 of red wine, I would give in and let you all know what Steamroller is.
See when we are play-testing figures for Heroscape we like to try certain army builds. Some of these we build in an effort to break the system, and others we use as strong stable test choices that will create a decent challenge for any army. We like to give these armies nicknames.
When testing figures for Wave 9 there was a particular army design we like to call The Steamroller. The army got the name for two reasons.
1- This army build is powerful and can crush other armies if you're not careful. Steamroller!
2- When playing this army, it is beneficial to continually pull figures from the rear and move them to the front so that your entire army slowly rolls forward... Steamroller Baby!
Now my question is, can any of you tell me which figures in wave 9, if included in the right army, make up the Steamroller? C'mon ding-dongs! Who is gonna guess it right!

Back on topic a little. I am going to have a tournament at my Dad's with my friends, family, and I in celebration of Wave 9's releasal once it's out. Besides that there's really not much else I've thought through but I think I'm going to do a higher point value tournament (like around 550pt.) and have a rule where you need to include at least two different Wave 9 units in your army. This is not a definate but from the looks of things it seems to really work out because many of Wave 9's genres have two units (Indians, Dwarves, Protectors, and Marro) already so it's not like if you want to play a specific theme you have to include some random Wave 9 unit that does not fit into the rest. And for genres with only one unit (Gladiators and Repulsors), hopefully Kumiko is a filler so it will work out a lot better. Anyways, I was thinking of playing or at least having one of my friends/attendies play The Steamroller + Retiarius. But again, I need to see Wave 9's points to really figure out the point limit and that two different Wave 9 unit rule, I'll probably include something of Wave 1 too, like for one of the two you could substitute for a Wave 1 unit (Omnicrons!!! And this would fix the Repulsors to have two). |

None that won anything. Blogs wouldn't be the best place to discuss it, anyway.

I find these old blogs interesting...it's funny how some of us managed to guess at the base stats of the Capuans, we assumed the Caps had bonding, and we still missed the initiative bonus
C'mon guys! ~2 years later and still enjoying a Gladiator build or two |
