TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 12

It's been awhile since my last update. Surprisingly, not much has changed, but I still wanted to let you all know where I was.

Horizon in Sight has progressed nicely, and is nearly finished. The development, that is. The writing comes later. I have one last subplot I need to plug into the outline, then I need to smooth the outline out with transitions and such, and we'll be ready to start the writing. A very rough estimate would put the release date somewhere around July.

Writing will be temporarily disrupted from now until May 9, as I do several things I have never done before in my life: get on a plane, and visit the east coast. I'll be flying down to South Carolina, then heading to Florida, for two weeks. It's highly unlikely much writing will get done, though I might be able to do a bit on the plane (if they still allow that sort of thing...).

The 'specs' for HiS are a single fan fiction,...

FFC #11 - What happened to the fourth book of Dan's tale

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 11

For those of you avidly watching my signature, you might have noticed that I've recently had a bout of difficulties with HiS, forcing me to pause development twice. I've worked out solutions to those problems, but they did involve a few changes, so I decided to let you know what was happening.

I had assumed from the start that HiS would contain four (albeit short) books: the opening on Isadora, a retelling of the Quest on Valhalla, a retelling of LBV on Valhalla, and then the conclusion, where I assumed Dan returned to Isadora. I've already told you this in other entries.

I knew the general sequence of events for the first three books when I started. The middle two had already been written, and the first got fleshed out quickly. The final book has remained a mystery until very recently. I finally know what I need to do with it:

Delete it entirely.

Well, almost entirely. It's still...

FFC #10 - Will I repost Dilmir?

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 10

Those following my FFC (Fan Fiction Chronicles), know that recently, I have been considering something I never thought I would: reposting Dilmir.

Following a major slump in interest for HiS, I took it upon myself yesterday to review the Dilmir trilogy. I wanted to see where it stood, and just how likely it was to be reposted. It took me two days to read all three books, and the results are in. How likely is it Dilmir will be reposted?

Not very.

There are a few small reasons, but I could work around those. The main reason is that the theme of all three books... well to be honest, I no longer agree with it.

Shortly after writing Dilmir, I started to figure a few things out. My thoughts on the theme completely reversed. It was right after the third book too, because I remember thinking how I could introduce a sequel with Dilmir as the main villain, and have him convinced of this new...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 9

FFC #9 - A Brief Update

This entry will just be a quick update on where things stand, as some things have changed since the last entry.

The last thing I had said was that I had found a setting for TLFF, Dilmir was still looking to be a fan fiction, and I had an idea for my novels.

TLFF is right where I left it. The setting is still as strong as before, though to be fair, I haven't really tested it yet. But for the moment, it looks to be holding.

My novels have progressed some. I'm currently trying to define the theme properly between banging my head against HiS's plot. But it is coming along, and the setting still seems solid - what there is of it.

The biggest change is with Dilmir. Dilmir has the annoying theme which doesn't have enough interest to be of novel calibre, and yet is too important not to be in a novel.

So at the moment, I have reached a compromise with myself: I will continue with this new...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 8

FFC #8 - Battle of the Infinite Series

It's very important to keep in mind that everything I say in these FFC's is subject to change, and that said change can happen very easily and without the slightest warning. Especially in this case.

Releasing details of something which is only in the earliest possible stages of conceptualization is inherently a bad idea, due precisely to the chance for it to change. That being said, I'm doing it anyway. Take it with a large grain of salt. You've been warned.

I recently mentioned how I had found the setting for my Dilmir series. I still have that, though it is slightly less stable than when I found it. Anything is possible when I develop the theme: it could solidify and be perfect, or it could fall apart completely. Time will tell.

I also mentioned how I didn't have a setting for TLFF - The Last Fan Fiction. Well... I have it now.

The theme from my last iteration of TLFF - By...
