FFC #94 - July Update

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #94

It's been over a month since my last update in the realm of fan fiction, so it's time to let people know where I'm at, and what's happening.

Dilmir 3, otherwise known as Archmage of Feylund, is well on its way. I've been making some good steady progress recently, writing on average a chapter a day. If I keep this rate up, I'd say the story should be written by the end of August. It'll need to be proofread, but that won't take long. Based on that, you can probably expect to see it sometime in September.

I'm keeping the rate to a chapter a day for two reasons: firstly, because my interest usually shifts to other things after then, and secondly, because writing for much longer than that in a single sitting is starting to turn out less-than-optimal writing quality. Not a change I'm a fan of, but one I can work with.

The story is looking to be longer than the previous two, I'm guessing by about 50%. I'm eager to share it with you all, and give Dilmir's tale the epic conclusion it deserves.

Moving on from Dilmir 3, I've been considering what to tackle next. I don't currently have an idea for a new fan fiction, but one could certainly appear. If I do turn to a new fan fiction, I'd like to explore something I haven't before: perhaps the world of Icaria, or some unexplored aspect of the war on Valhalla. Ideas are welcome.

However, I've recently changed my thinking on my novels, with the result that I am actually ready to start developing them. Actually ready. As in now. There isn't a whole lot more I can get out of fan fiction, besides constant practice (which is good), and now that I know how to proceed with my novels, there's a high chance I'll turn to them after Dilmir 3.

Now that being said, I'd like plenty of time to develop the world for my novels. Once the basic idea of the story is in place (so that I'll know what kind of world I need), I could probably switch over to fan fiction while I let the world grow organically. I definitely don't want to rush anything with my novels, and a quick fan fiction could provide me the time I need. We'll see.

But that's all in the future. For now, I'm focused on getting Dilmir 3 out. Once that's done, then we'll see where I'm at with novels/fan fiction.

Until then, keep reading!
