Gotta love the bone-flail! I like the one with the flail and the more-like-a-horse mount the best... I wish they had made the 'grocks' look more like Me-Burq's mount.

I could Definitly see 1 and 4 as marro raiders(perhaps a 2 figure unit?). I really like the 1st one.

I really prefer the first design over the others and the actual figures we got.

First and third rule! I like the fierce tongue!

The 2nd and 3rd are my favs. I wish the real figs had the horns on the skulls. Without the horns the figs don't look as brutal as the art.

I think that they are all better than the shark headed things they ride now!

Would have liked the Grok Riders to stay on mounts akin to MBS's horse. It would give them a nice uniform look. That said, I think sketch #3 is the best.

The Marro would be sweet if the had a heavy melee squad. You have the Hive Lords, who are all nasty but perhaps a unique squad of Royal Hive Guards or something like that would work good.

I am leaning toward the third one myself. Just something about it says "Don't mess with the Marro".

Is this the first time these pictures have surfaced? I have seen them before... but I didn't realize they were previously unreleased material.


Anyways, these sketches are really sweet.

A variation of the third one would be nice for Skeleton Cavalry.
I like the first one best, though, I think. Just so primal and savage looking.

Cool how the riders and mounts are all individual pieces, and they cut and paste to see how each would look on the other.

I must say that the beast in the first and fourth looks FIERCE, and that the final outcome of the Grok was toned back quite a bit based on these concept sketches.

Also of note, the original concept of the skull weapon looks to be more of a flail, rather than the straight spinal chord the actual figs are slinging around.

I was hoping they would have done a mix of sword and morning star. For the mount I really like number 4 and thin kit should have the subakna tongue

I've got a plan in the works for adapting the Tyranid race from Warhammer 40k into some Marro. Look up "Hormagaunts" for a look at a potentially wicked Marro melee squad.

Like 'em all... My idea for the future marro cavalry are heavily armored, slower moving units. Like marro in bone armor wielding HUGE battle axes...
