The ramblings of a designer turned writer turned computer geek turned writer turned designer with way too much time on his hands.
FFC #111 - September Update
TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #111
Dawn of Darkness is now fully written. It weighs in at 148 pages and 70K+ words, although that number might shift slightly as I proofread and edit. Editing might take a few days - for some reason I found myself making a lot of typos and other errors as I wrote, so I expect there to be a lot to fix.
You can probably expect to see DoD posted and ready for viewing by the end of this week or before.
While you wait, I will again highly suggest you re-read Valkyrie. Even if you remember the main events, it's the little details which are referenced constantly in DoD, including one revelation which is hinted at, but never actually told in Valkyrie. It's only 16 chapters. A quick read.
DoD will of course be released with the usual accompaniment of maps, introduction, and post-text author's note. And it will be released on my website, the top of which is rapidly running out of room (it might already have done so on smaller screens - let me know if it looks weird).
The future:
The completion of DoD means it's time to face the age-old question: what's next? Honestly I don't know. There are some ideas for various fan fictions circulating through my mind, and I even started the pre-development for one, but whether or not any of these will see the light of day remains to be seen.
I feel like I want to keep writing though (as in the actual writing), so I might take some of these ideas and turn them into short stories, so that I can always be writing something while I work on other projects.
Those other projects will be novel(s). The first novel, which I plan on writing as a standalone story with series potential (to increase appeal to an agent/publisher), is being developed. Yes, actually developed, for real. Took me long enough.
It is a LONG ways out, as I'm still constructing the primary parts, like character arc, plot, all that good stuff. The world also needs some more attention. But it is coming along, and it is doing so far faster than I had anticipated. Thanks in no small part to testing out various aspects of it across a range of fan fictions since 2013.
Obviously I would like to be writing something during that time, and possibly working on a larger project than short stories. But time will tell. For now, I will get DoD polished up and released, and then we'll see what comes next.
After, of course, the two eternities we take to read AC, when TAF posts it.
I'll keep you updated.
Until then, keep reading.

End of the week, huh? I need to edit faster
![]() I may reread Valkyrie. I remember the gist of it, but very little otherwise. Doubtless the small details have escaped me ~TAF |

Update: Proofreading will take a bit longer than planned, due to a variety of unforeseen factors. I would guess you can expect the fiction to be posted by the middle of next week, or the end of it at the latest.
