Week@HS Revival - Week #22

Posted June 17th, 2013 at 11:29 AM by truth

C3G
Last week, we spotlighted one of the designs from a Super Secret Release, the Armored Antagonists. This week we will continue to spotlight these designs. On the bar this week – Fire Brand!
With his Dual Flamethrowers SA he can roast up to three figures at once! With his Lava Resistance special power he can work well on Lava based maps. Combine this with his Superstrength and Flying, you have a strong unit who is a must on any Lava map.

VC
Last week a glyph was highlighted, but this week a common hero will be displayed, also from Wave 15: the Command Courier.
Command Couriers bring orders to Vydar's Unique Heroes thanks to a telepathic link to Vydar himself. On first glance, the Command Couriers' Order Marker management appears to be very costly for the benefit received. If you want three Command Couriers, it will cost you 105 points for a largely non-attacking force! However, the ability to change strategies at a moment's notice is often worth the cost. Additionally, the Command Couriers are decent as a clean-up force if your opponent lacks special attacks thanks to Fleet Footed and a ranged attack.

So, if you decide to use the Command Couriers in your army, you need to decide which Vydar heroes to include with them. Since you are making an all-hero (or nearly all-hero) army, squads are your worst enemy. Thankfully, Vydar has many multi-attackers. Heirloom and James Murphy are both good choices for this role. Agent Carr is an excellent assassin unit, with his attack of 6 in melee. Agent Skahen is one of the most important heroes in a Vydar hero build, offering free movement thanks to Cover Fire. The Command Courier isn't a great unit that overwhelms the metagame, but it allows for fun and unique strategies, and hopefully this article can persuade you to give them a try if you haven't already.

Custom of the Week
This week we're featuring another repaint by Bonegnasher! His Wo-Sa-Ga repaint is one fierce swamp monster!
Don't forget to check out more pictures of Wo-Sa-Ga and the rest of bonegnasher's customs!

Map of the Week
This week, we bring you a gigantic map by Skyknight!
This ginormous map uses 11 RotVs, 3 RTTFFs, 2.5 TTs, 2 VWs and one modded RotV. This map uses a nice mix of different terrain that makes it aesthetically pleasing.

Custom SuperScape Creation
This week, we bring you Ocean Master by Scapemage!
With his Subaquatic Senses 1 water spaces provide a nice movement boost. He can also use his Mystic Bolt 12 to gain an extra 'attack' and his Telepathy SA allows him to attack without clear sight.

WoV
Truth, Aldin, and IAmBatman must escape the factory before it falls, taking both them and the bots with it. The problem with dodging burning wreckage and sharp metal debris, with a host of angry bots behind you seeking your premature death, is that plans for escape have a tendency to rapidly get difficult to execute in such an environment.

What will happen to our heroes at this most crucial moment?
The WoV needs you to decide!

Rules and previous chapters can be found here.

Leader Interview
Fi Skirata: Who are you really?:

MegaSilver: My name is Tommy Adams, and I am currently a farmhand on my family's farm. I am going to Western Kentucky University to become a science teacher.

Fi Skirata: When did you join Week@HSers?:

MegaSilver: I don't exactly remember. Mid to late 2011? I'm sure someone can find an old one made by me to be sure.

Fi Skirata: What is/was your favorite part of working on Week@HSers?:

MegaSilver: Being able to choose what I wanted to show for Week@Heroscapers.
(I was the first one to re-necro the Agent Carr thread, by the way. )

Fi Skirata: What do you think you helped Week@HSers to accomplish during your leadership?:

MegaSilver: Keep it afloat until someone else could take it over.
(I guess I did okay, in the beginning. I wasn't in the position to take it over when it happened. The others at the time had to drop out, and as there was no one else at the time to help me out.)
But I am glad you guys have continued the tradition.

Fi Skirata: If there was a section from Week@HSers past you could bring back, what would it be?:

MegaSilver: None that I can think of at the moment.

Fi Skirata: In closing, do you have any message to give to the Week@HSers crew and/or the community as a whole?:

MegaSilver: I'm very glad that you guys have continued this. I know I wasn't able to handle it alone. Keep doing good guys!

Fi Skirata: Thank you very much for your time, MegaSilver!

Miscellaneous
Orgsbane and Obfusatedhippo have joined forces to bring a new custom creation contest to the site. The former has created a repaint of Abomination in Marro colors, for the contestants to create a card for.
The winner of the contest gets either a repainted Abomination or $10 to Auggies. So what are you waiting for? Enter now, but first, check out the rules. Hurry, because the contest ends June 28th!

HoSS will be releasing late June! While this is the 'official' release date (sometime that last week of June), we could still use your help to possibly release even sooner! We have just two figures to finish testing before we would be ready for release, but with your help we would be able to release more maps (currently seven need testing) and possibly an additional figure!

Do you fancy a challenge?

Then why not try the Speed Custom Challenge! Based off of the original speed custom contests of old, each week the Speed Custom Challenge gives you a new figure or concept to turn into a Heroscape card!

Last week we had this big ol monster to work with:
Check out the thread if you're interested in seeing the winner and the runner-ups! Also check for the next contest, coming to you shortly!

Awesome as usual guys. Great stuff here to ruminate on for awhile and eventually digest [~burp~]. I especially like getting to know more about MegaSilver in the last five minutes than I did while playing against him for almost an hour at GenCon.

Custom figures don't thrill me because the only time I get to play 'Scape anymore is with a club here in the Mid-Atlantic Region that tries to run monthly tournaments sticking to traditional guidelines and the classic Hasbro/WotC figures.

BUTT... I love that repaint of ABOMINATION in Marro colors. I hope he shows up as an 'official' UnCommon hero in a future C3V Wave, so that I'll finally have a use for the dozen or so ABBOMININAATIONNS that I've got laying around somewhere.

AND... I've just got to try that ginormous map the next time my grand kids stay over for a weekend. Too bad it doesn't also have a section with some palm trees and jungle bushes to be totally complete ~~lol~~ just kidding, it is BEE-UUU-TEE-FUL!

Week after week, Week@HSers continues to produce quality content!

Skyknight, that map is truly awe-inspiring. I would give my left eyeball to play on that.

You know what I think would've been cool for the courier? Check this out:

"Command And Control:
If there is an unrevealed order marker on this Courier, after moving and instead of attacking, you may place that order marker on the army card of any friendly, adjacent figure."

That would allow him to carry orders and spend his attack giving the order marker to another squad or hero. Maybe limiting it to Vydar would take it down a notch? Price him at 50 points, as well?
