Rules of Valhalla

Posted May 21st, 2006 at 02:02 PM by Hex_Enduction_Hour
"Will the Gorillinators get their 'Tough' shield?"

"Can an orc disengage from a Knight of Weston without a swipe from their Coward's Reward ability?"

"If my Deadeye's engaged, can he still Sharpshoot somewhere else?"

Sound familiar? How many times has a situation like these arisen in one of your battles? The wording on a Heroscape unit card is explicit and to the point. If care is not taken in its interpretation, you may end up missing a key point or making a drastic mistake.

It's important to always look over an ability or special attack...

Quests of Heroscape

Netherspirit has a look into Quests of Heroscape, he writes:
Are you looking for a new way to play Heroscape? Give Quests of Heroscape a try. Quests of Heroscape was created by our very own Teamski. Teamski was on a mission to add something to the game of Heroscape that didn't involve having to kill everything to win. He originally wanted to add an RPG element to the game, but it turned out to be something altogether different.
With the aide of Malechi (artistic and advising), Teamski created Quests of Heroscape. All you need to play the basic quests is a full set of the glyphs, at least 2 ruins, and a high point. So basically all you need is a master set.
Once you have your map set up, place the glyphs symbol-side up (power-side down) randomly on the map. Then you are ready to get your Quests. Each player gets 3 quest cards, that are kept secret from all the other players. Each...

Scoop from Comic-Con: Part Three

Oogie is back with his final installment from Comic-Con. He's got an interview with lead heroscape designer Craig VanNess. Oogie writes:

I was very fortunate to meet one of the Game Designers for Heroscape, Craig Van Ness. Craig is an extremely friendly guy and was very giving of his time. This is an account of the time I spent with Craig in the HS booth at Comic-Con (to the best of my recollections - and notes).

When I got to the booth, I didn't say anything. I just wandered around looked at the large castle setup, glazed over the glass cases, sat down at the single castles setup, and picked up the castle rulebook. Just like in those corny detective movies, I was surveying the people and the setup, as I held the castle rules just below eye level.

Con attendees came in and out of the booth. Many marveled at the large castle setup. Many commented...

Custom Heroscape Hex Table

Posted September 13th, 2006 at 06:18 PM by truth
Updated April 14th, 2008 at 04:38 PM by truth

Here at Heroscapers.com we love to show off the work of our members. The creativity that pours out of so many of the people on this site never cease to amaze me. Recently one of our members, known as C28525, refurbished an old table into a beautiful Heroscape themed table for playing on. He's going to show us just how he did it with some step by step instructions just incase you want to do-it-yourself. So let me just hand the mic over to C28525 here, and let him run with it.
From the mouth of C28525:
First off I need to give a big shoutout to InfinityMax, it was his initial design of a dice tower that inspired this table. He also helped get the sizes and hexes together to make this thing. He is a genius!
Ok, before the table just wanted to let everyone know this is my first time at doing anything custom….so some of my lines are off and there are a few small errors, but I am very...

What Your Army Says About You

Posted September 15th, 2006 at 01:56 PM by Revdyer

Karl Jung, in his p sychology, developed a theory of human personality that was based on discerning the archetypes that so often appear in human mythology and are reflected in the way we think and act. Many of those archetypes also appear among the figures of HeroScape. In fact, it just may be that as the Rorschach tests using inkblots can uncover the inner workings of our minds, so too, examining the armies and figures we like to play with in HeroScape may also tell us something of who we are and how we think and feel...Consider, first those who love orcs and want armies that swarm with them. Does this not show a strong dark side to the personality, the dark shadows of the mind cast over the playing field? In fact, those who favor the Marro or other servants of Utgar seem, by their choice of armies,...
