Well met!

Sherman presented the Gang with this to be played next month:

At the end of Round 8, the team with the most points worth of figures within any opposing start zones wins the game. Partial card scoring will be used.

All water spaces on the map are Wellspring Water.

Writing Update #7 - May

TGRF's Writing Updates - May

This last month seems to have gone by in a flash. There have been changes in some areas, and none in others, so it's time to update you all on where my writing stands.

Fan Fiction
Fan Fiction remains to be in a weird place for me. I have ideas - almost exclusively about possible sequels to DoD - but I don't want to shift focus away from my novels to write those ideas.

From HS lore, we know that Vydar and Einar both end up betraying Utgar. We know that Taelord and Runa somehow both join the war. How do these things happen? Utgar's well on his way to becoming the villain we know, but how does that story end?

There's a lot of questions and half-formed plots which I could turn into a story, or a collection of stories, but sadly, until I reach a point with my novels where I need to take a several-month-long break, I don't see them being written anytime soon.

Wax and Wayne: Shadows of Self - Review

Posted May 15th, 2024 at 12:37 PM by TGRF
TGRF Reviews: Shadows of Self

I recently completed the second installment in the Wax and Wayne series, the sequel series to the Mistborn books. At this point I've read both the Mistborn trilogy and the four Stormlight Archive books, and while I like the Stormlight setting more, I feel that the Mistborn trilogy was definitely Sanderson's best work that I've read. So my hopes are high for Wax and Wayne to deliver. Let's get to the review.

5: Amazing, above flawless.
4: Flawless, but doesn't really stand out.
3: Might have some issues, but works fine.
2: Has some issues which might detract from the media.
1: Flawed, bring the media down noticeably.

Title: Shadows of Self
Author: Brandon Sanderson
My Rating: 4/5 - A fun and solid read, with good promise for what's to come

Summary: As I understand it, Alloy of Law was more of an introductory book, a way for Sanderson to test...
