Fan Art Spotlight - May 2016

A fan art spotlight
Author: Evar Scarcarver

I am known among my friends and family as being very a rational and detail-oriented person, to a fault. I am constantly overlooking what should be obvious social cues and implications, all too often only taking into account the hard facts of a situation.

When it comes to art, I use my cold logic to my advantage: analyzing my favorite artists, reading about the philosophies and ideas behind different art, and incorporating practice into my daily routine. But sometimes you need to take a moment and ignore the details of something, and just look at it for what it is. Simplify: it’s something I’ve been trying to do more.

Author: Fi Skirata

Profile:

Who are you really?
This is the hardest question on this whole survey. I want to take Jesus seriously. I spend an absurd amount of time thinking about gaming. I'm pretty sure there's a contradiction in there ... I'm also married with two kids and think my family is awesome. Oh, and I was homeschooled from 1st – 1

What other interests do you have?
I like strategy board games, of course. I also like to play video games occasionally. I really enjoy my job and occasionally work on personal coding projects in my free time. I am, sporadically,

Titles are hard. Whenever I name my work—whether it be drawings, stories, or songs---I usually end up making the titles overcomplicated, in a fruitless attempt to encapsulate the entire subject described in the piece in as few words as possible. A good example of this is the title to this column, which actually has two names at once. “Fan art spotlight,” which explains that I am indeed spotlighting Heroscape fan art, and the second title, “From the Desk of a Frostrager,” which explains that I will get sidetracked from each piece of art to talk about my overly philosophical thoughts on life and the Heroscape community.

It’s hard to find a title that explains what a drawing is about but is simplistic enough to let the art speak for itself. But this week’s spotlighted
