I remember, during those Halycon (I wish
) days of my youth, when I was universally hated by my classmates (for good reason, as I was a real $%^hole
), asking in despair, "Why do you all hate me?", and receiving, from the girl next to me, the classic response, "If you don't know, I can't tell you."
Although many, many years have passed since that fateful day, the idea that I am clueless as to what motivates my fellow human beings still lingers.
