Guide to Custom Unit Creation

Posted May 28th, 2010 at 10:02 AM by truth

Community member Grey Owl has been working to bring fans a guide to Custom Unit creation. Grey Owl writes:

I've been working on this for the past few months, and I finally got around to finalizing it. This is a guide book and reference for making Heroscape customs. Lately I've been hearing from a lot of people new to customizing, and I thought this would be a great resource to help them get up-to-speed. Plus I use it myself all the time!

It covers pretty much every aspect of custom card making, including design, costing, playtesting, aesthetics, and a comprehensive style guide for wording. It is also a living work, meaning it will be updated based on information from new releases. There were a lot of other contributors to this work besides myself, and I tried to give them all credit in the intro. If I inadvertently

C3G X-Men Expansion Set: Rise of the Mutants

Posted March 24th, 2010 at 09:52 AM by truth

The world had seemed pretty quiet since my last mission involving the C3G. The World’s Finest had been a huge hit and even though I was lying low, far away from those boys, I still heard the buzz about the success of the “project”. There was an overwhelming positive reaction from the masses. It was a bold undertaking that finished with a product to be proud of. I can say that.

But fame is like pain, it seems eternal at first, but proves to be fleeting. I knew first hand what pain was like. I’ve felt my fair share and certainly dealt out ten times that. Each one of those C3G members had certainly taken a dose of concentrated beat-down, hand delivered by one doctor Matthew Helm. They knew pain, and thanks to me, they knew that time washes it away. So I was just hoping, for their sake, that

Custom Creations - DC Heroscape

Posted January 24th, 2010 at 12:44 PM by truth

Do you love the Marvel set? Or maybe you've been thinking about giving it a try for the first time? Have you wished that there were more figures available for it, including squads? Do you wish the license extended into other universes, such as DC? What is a superhero-lovin' Heroscaper to do?!
Sure, you could play with the many customs on the site. But even though many of them are excellent, how do you know if they're balanced? What if they're not compatible with customs made by other creators? How much playtesting, if any, actually went into them?
For you the comics fan, we at C3G have taken action. We are very proud to introduce the first of hopefully many C3G releases: DC Heroscape Custom Large Expansion: World's Finest!"

Superhero Customs II - DC HeroScape

It is not likely that we will ever see DC Comic's characters make their way into HeroScape on account of licensing issues with competing toy companies. Heroscaper and DC Comics fan - IAmBatman, felt that was a shame. And so he has begun the long task of brining popular DC characters into the world of HeroScape.

Check out IAmBatman's Custom Unit Thread for LOTS more DC customs.

Superhero Customs

The art of custom unit making is nothing new. I was among the first to venture into that world, but since those early days the face of HeroScape has changed, and thus so have custom units. When the game only had one set of boosters to choose from the unlimited potential for more could hardly be contained, and so custom units held a lofty place in the hearts of the early fans. As more and more official product became available there became less and less of a desire for fans to bring variety to the game by way of making their own units.
Custom unit making still has a niche in the community, but it tends to be a gathering of custom unit makers, making the units simply for the joy of the creation process, rather than to fill a desire...
