I just wanted to give you a glimpse of some new things I’m working on. Which of them most interest you?

Battlefield #1
A long and symmetrical capture the flag scenario using only a RotV, RttFF, and a FotA. (2 Players)

Battlefield #2
A desert canyon in central Crumland; the only shelter in the face of deadly sandstorms. Keep your head down. (RotV x2, 2 Players)

Battlefield #3
A wide icy river thaws and trade routes reopen - good news for bandits. A big build using two RotV, two RttFF, and a TT. (4 Players)

La Isla de Sombra

Posted August 26th, 2012 at 10:52 AM by AliasQTip
Here’s another preview of coming attractions. I’ve been working on this map off and on for some time and it’s nearing completion. It’s a small map made from a Rise of the Valkyrie Master Set, a Ticalla Jungle, and a bunch of extra water tiles.

La Isla de Sombra
(The Island of Shadow)

Isla de Sombra Battlefield

Idea:
I wanted to try my hand at a zombie island scenario. There’s just something very dramatic about being shipwrecked on an island crawling with zombie natives. What I came up with was a mini three-part campaign.

Backstory:
In short, one party was chasing the other across the Bitter Sea. A bad storm erupted and shipwreck followed. The crews from each ship find each other on the island and do battle. One team wins; the natives come out of hiding, and attack in an attempt to keep them away from the sacred totems. Darkness falls,...

Soulrazor Hollow

I know it’s been a while since I posted a new battlefield for you all to check out. Actually I posted the last one way back in November. Has it really been that long? Now it’s not that I don’t have ideas, mind you. It’s just my interest in HeroScape has strayed a bit in the last few months and in the meantime I’ve been putting my focus on other projects. I have a habit of cycling through my vast list of hobbies and I think I’m once again returning to the game I love.

I’ve got some new maps to tease you with and hopefully mine some of your ideas to finish them off and produce some really great scenarios.

First up, a map that I first made and playtested several months ago but has only recently acquired a simple scenario. This one is probably closest to being done and that’s why it’s being featured in this blog. Hopefully your HeroScape group will be playing this one very soon!

Cave of Shadows: Part 3

Posted February 3rd, 2011 at 03:22 PM by AliasQTip
In a previous blog entry I demonstrated what goes in to creating one of my Adventure Pack terrain pieces. This time around I invite you to discover what goes on in my mind when I’m designing a new battlefield. This is the third entry of a three part blog, the first and second entries of which can be found at these links respectively.

The Playtesting
Playtesting, playtesting, playtesting. It’s the only way to make sure a map and its scenario are working perfectly. My wife and I usually play at least three games on any given map to be sure it’s playing well. If not, tweeks and more games are needed in order to hone in on a scenario.

Playtesting Game

Usually the first round of playtesting is designed to break the map. We field armies that will find the weaknesses in the overall map design. For example, the Airborne Elite have the tendency to break most...

Cave of Shadows: Part 2

In a previous blog entry I demonstrated what goes in to creating one of my Adventure Pack terrain pieces. This time around I invite you to discover what goes on in my mind when I’m designing a new battlefield. This is the second entry of a three part blog, the first of which can be found here.

The Story
The HeroScape Compendium is a fantastic resource for giving your map the feeling and motivation it deserves. If you’ve never given it a look, I highly recommend you do. I almost always reference existing places and/or people from the HeroScape universe when writing the descriptions that accompany my maps.

For this map, as noted in the previous blog entry of this series, I’m building upon the Cave of Shadows mentioned in the Quest for Concan’s Castle. It’s an icy cave somewhere in the Thaelenk Tundra and provides a path to Concan’s Castle. My map definitely looks the part; it has ice and snow as well as plenty of dark shadows.

Although...
