Super Bogue's D4 - Vydar's Treachery continued

I have a few moments now, so let me continue where I left off earlier today. The next squad is Lolth's Sting.

My thoughts with this unit is to provide Pelloth with some cheaper ammo for Lolth's Wrath. Also they are good group to spring upon an unsuspecting hero who has wandered from his party like in these pics.

Run Evar! Run!!

I have a couple of heroes that I will finish their cards soon, so look for another blog post next week.

I love the idea of cheap Pelloth-fodder, but the potential of 5 attack (plus a 45% chance at a free wound) makes these guys look a lot more expensive than 40 points to me. Remember, HS units are priced considering their best-case scenario. Try these guys out on a swamp-heavy map against slow, expensive, melee units and see how they do. I bet that three squads of these guys would go toe-to-toe with three squads of Minions.

Perhaps, but they don't have any defensive special ability to overcome their base defense of 2. They have to get the first strike or else they are as weak as nagrubs without a hivelord. Poision weapons isn't a threat to squad figures. I could give them an altered version of Lurking Ambush that only works with shadow tiles.

Or weaken its attack bonus-maybe call it "Lurking Ambush 1" and have its attack bonus be only 1, along with the move bonus.

What about using Shadow Ambush instead of Lurking Ambush? They would still get the 3 attack bonus, but without the movement bonus and no activation on swamp water. I think I like that better. I want them to do two things: Jump out of the shadows and stab people and then be blown into spidery bits by Pelloth.

First, know that I haven't tested these guys, so all I've said and all I'm going to say is just based off Theoryscape.

That change definitely drops their price down a bit, but I'm still concerned by their potential 5 attack (6 with height) plus Poison Weapons. Maybe if PW was reduced to 16+, instead of a 45% success rate, they'd be getting closer to the price you're looking at. I know that you're using 12 because its what the DwD's PW uses, but these guys feel like they're floating around 55 points the way they're presently statted.

Like I said earlier, I love Pelloth-fodder, so if in the near future I get a chance between work, school and SoV tests, I'll run these guys a few times and see if I can give you some fact-based opinions, instead of just spit-balling in your blog.
