Online Con 2020

Posted July 20th, 2020 at 09:32 AM by truth
Updated July 20th, 2020 at 11:08 PM by Xorlof (discord link updated)
With Gencon cancelled for the year, we wanted to make sure there was still a big Heroscape tournament in August 2020 to keep the competitive scene going and give people a chance to roll some dice. So, without more introduction, we have Online Con 2020, July 31st through August 2nd. It's three days of all-online Heroscape tournaments: Friday, Saturday, Sunday. There will be two events each day, ending a bit early on Sunday. All of the games will happen over Discord voice chat on the Online Heroscape Tournament Discord Server. There will be a big voice chat where we roll out matchups and give tournament info, and then you'll go into 1 on 1 chatrooms to play your matches with your paired opponent.

We'll have a set of Online Con exclusive prize dice for every event winner, and prize dice for the top 4 for the Championship.

Here's the list of events:

July 27-July 30

HS Codex Editor's Report (Jan 18)

HS Codex Editorís Report
January 2018

Greetings from the Codex, and welcome to another front page announcement! A while back, I contacted all the members of the old Codex who were still in the group and asked if they were interested in contributing. One who replied was Hex_Enduction_Hour, and the result is that the Codex once again has an artist!

We intend to release HEHís art on front page announcements like these, and eventually articles as well. Being in a blog format isnít very conducive to art, unfortunately (due to formatting issues, the art takes up the whole width of the blog ... so, no art on the sidebars), but I think we can start putting art on the bottom of some articles. We need to sort some things out before that happens,

Shifting Realms is Back!

Posted October 25th, 2017 at 05:46 PM by truth
Lead Heroscape designer Craig Van Ness' new company, Soaring Rhino is back with a new Kickstarter for their game Shifting Realms

As you may recall, they cancelled their previous Kickstarter for this game and have used that time to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, the game compenents! Plus they were able to shave $5 off the price too! If you backed the cancelled Kickstarter, you'll certainly want to back this one!

As an extra incentive, if you buy at least one copy of the game during the Kickstarter we will give you a free year of Site Supporter status here on Heroscapers (after the Kickstarter is successful, just PM your receipt to @Xorlof )!

Soaring Rhino News

Posted October 16th, 2016 at 02:58 AM by truth
If you haven't been following It's Game Time, here's a quick update of what's been happening with Craig (and Jeff) Van Ness' new company, Soaring Rhino. First of all, they've finalized their company logo, and it's pretty sweet:

Secondly, they're starting to show-off a prototype for their first game, Shifting Realms (BGG entry). Here's the video:

They haven't revealed enough to know exactly how the game will play, but the video does give you the gist of what you're trying to do. I'm not sure how or if the 3 separate worlds interact or how your actions on one affect the others, but I'm sure those details will be revealed with time. We do know that it's got a variable starting setup, with 60 different configurations. That's always a win in my book. (While they said the prototype doesn't have completed art, I hope that...

Tail Feathers Preview

Posted November 10th, 2015 at 01:32 AM by truth
Note from Xorlof: y'all know about our very own Grungebob and you may know about his previous game, Mice and Mystics. In this article, he explains what he's been up to lately!

-------

Hello Heroscapers, Grungebob here! Xorlof has been kind enough to allow me to use the front page of Scapers to talk about my newest game release Tail Feathers.

So some of you might not know who I am. My name is Jerry Hawthorne and I am a Heroscape fan. I got involved with Heroscape in 2004 before it was released, and I had the good fortune of meeting Craig Van Ness, Rob Daviau, and the other good folks at Hasbro who create cool games. I play tested for Hasbro and eventually freelanced for them on Heroscape.

I've always loved miniature games and Heroscape really struck a chord with me. My experiences with Heroscape have led to lifelong friendships and game design career...
