More of My Obsessions... Boy are there a lot...

Posted May 14th, 2008 at 08:58 PM by Menchy
Hey all. I recently discovered that I am obsessed with way more things that I thought. The list I made yesterday tops out at 43 items. Scary, I know. Well, the least I can do is share them with you, right? Here we go.

Music

Neutral Milk Hotel
Specifically their album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Out of all the albums I own, that one is my favorite. Lead singer/songwriter Jeff Mangum is extraordinarily talented, and the title track In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is a real tearjerker. The album is based partialy on Jeff Mangum's life, the story of Anne Frank, and a pair of siamese twins lost in the woods on a cold winter night. It's genious. The tracks all feature fantastic horn parts and the songwriting is brilliant. I can't reccomend it highly enough.

Santogold
Her style is very similar to M.I.A.'s but it's a little more... well... different. Heavy beats, rap-ish vocals and some catchy songs define her self-titled debut album.

Movies

Juno: Starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera
Academy Award winner for best screenplay, Academy Award Nominee for Best Picture, and a fantastic soundtrack. Juno is an all around awesome movie. Ellen Page's character is both believeable and connectable. The movie also has some hilarious moments.
Leah: Juno?
Juno: No, it's Morgan Freeman, do you have any bones that need collecting?
Leah: Only the one in my pants.

Juno: What about Katrina De'Vortte?

Well, I could probably quote it all day, but if you haven't stopped reading yet, you probably would have with another quote. But regardless, it's an amazing movie. Rent it, or buy it, or just watch it.

Random

Dippin' Dots
Formerly reserved to only amusement parks and street carnivals, Dippin' Dot's are now being sold in supermarkets. Incase you don't know what Dippin' Dot's are, they are ice cream that is kept at very low temperatures and comes as a plethora of small spheres. They are surprisingly amazingly delicious. I would reccomend you find some right now and shove it down your throat, but I would also settle for you looking for them the next time you are in the ice cream aisle at the supermarket. They are sold in individual size containers.

Well, that's it for now. I'm supposed to be writing a paper, so I guess I should bounce.

Some of the quotes in Juno are highly irritating, the one that I hated the most was when Juno tells her friend she's pregnant, he friend says "Honest to blog?"

Do people really say that? Its ridiculous if they do, and they should be shot.

I agree. Some of the dialouge from Juno is hilarious, but some is a little bit stupid. Still an awesome movie though.
