I've been working on a particular grammar problem recently and I just realized why it's so difficult.
It's the proper use of (blank) and I vs. (blank) and me.
I used to always say: "Dad, me an' Anthony are going to the store (Anthony was my best friend)." He'd always reply: "Mean Anthony? Anthony's mean?!" Funny, huh?
Of course I should have been saying Anthony and
I are going to the store.
The reason this is difficult to get through my head is that the Anthony part comes before the variable part (I or me).
It would be easier to say: Dad, I (the hard part) and Anthony (the given) are going to the store because by the time I say the "anthony" part, I've forgotten which part (I or Me) I should say next and I usually say the wrong one!
