C3G Strategy Guide
Author: Ronin

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Mutant
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Telepath
Personality – Disciplined
Size/Height – Medium 5

As a mutant, Cable is part of the most robust synergy grouping in C3G, and being a telepath on top of that is just gravy. Cable has all kinds of neat synergy hooks that open him up to a variety of different builds. More on those later.

Statistics Breakdown
Life – 5
Move – 5
Range – 7
Attack – 4
Defense – 6
Points – 275

Great range and great durability, plus decent move and attack. But it’s really not worth getting into those until we have a chance to talk about Cable’s

’Scaper of the Month
Author: The Grim Reaper’s Friend

We’re excited to continue our admin interviews with Jim! I had never personally had many dealings with Jim, but from the posts of his I had seen and the tales from others I had heard, I was excited to learn more about him.

Who are you really?
Jim. Really.

How old are you?

What is your occupation?
I work for a non-profit credit counseling agency which helps people pay back their credit card, medical, and loan debts. Not quite as fun as my last job when I worked in the product acquisition department at Hasbro.

What’s another board game/RPG you enjoy and why?
I play a lot of other games. Boardgame Geek claims that I own well over a thousand games (though to be fair it also counts individual expansions

Map Spotlight
Desecrated Mine, by R˙chean
Author: BiggaBullfrog

Time for another ARV Map Spotlight! This month we’re going back to our first contest, “Ruins of Valhalla,” for an excellent map by R˙chean: Desecrated Mine.

Map Bio:
Only the fossilized remains of a once mighty hive are left to mark Utgar’s subterranean attack. The hive was unleashed through an underground breach powering forth into the dwarven mines and dungeons, leaving behind only death and destruction. The attack left the mines unstable for any further excavation and compromised the dwarves’ stronghold, leaving it in ruins.

Start Zones:
The start zones for Desecrated Mine are spread wide. With a pool of water and a wall blocking the middle,...

Customs Creation
The Question of Balance
Author: Scytale

In a prior article, I gave an overview of the various aspects of custom design: balance, theme, creativity, and playability. That article spoke briefly about each and how they relate to a unit’s role. This is the first in a series of planned articles that take a deeper look at each.

Balance is arguably the most frequently discussed feature of any unit, be it custom or official. A unit’s viability, especially in the tournament scene, is dependent on the value it provides compared to its price. Even in less competitive “for fun” games, overpriced or underpriced units can ruin the overall experience. Simply put, balance is an extremely important part of design.

So how does one decide on a unit’s point cost? You can find many opinions and guidelines, even formulas,

C3G Interview - October 2017

Posted October 28th, 2017 at 12:00 PM by HS Codex

C3G Interview
Author: LordEsenwienIV & Tornado

Taeblewalker was interviewed back in 2011. It went as follows.

What is your favorite aspect of C3G?

C3G takes the official Marvel game and brings it up to the level of a really fun, professionally produced product with a lot of options and excellent replay value.

What do you like most about being in the map department?

I like bringing my experience, both as an avid comic fan and as a New Yorker, to help shape the geography of the Marvelscape experience.

Do you have a favorite map?

It’s an extremely tough choice, but I like the Well of Souls. It started as more of a simple cemetery map, and turned into something truly phenomenal and eerie.

Marvel or DC?
