Painting Project: Lizardmen Stegadon

I'm starting to assemble and paint the Warhammer fantasy "Lizardmen Stegadon" It is five skink minis and a giant Stegadon mount.

It's way awesome, but this is going to be my first major painting project of this magnitude, so I'm a bit nervous. I've done alot of miniatures (Warhammer 40k orks, Games Workshop LotR dwarves, mostly), but nothing of this size. Also, nothing that had this much assembly. We'll see how it goes. Here's some pics (not of mine, of course):

Just about finished with my flocking project (the grassy parts anyway... I plan to do sand eventually). Please stop by the thread and let me know what you think. Here's the link:

Endless Flocking

Posted June 16th, 2009 at 01:45 AM by Melwing17
I spent quite a bit of time today starting (and making good progress on) a new project. Flocking four SOTMs worth of the "dark green" tiles. Whatever you actually call them- I tend to just call them 'the dark green ones'.

I may end up doing a sand 'flocking' on the sand tiles, not sure yet. I'd like to real-ify them all eventually.

Found one of each of the following this morning at a local game store; I previously didn't have any of them, so I was excited:

Roman Archers/Legionnaires
Blade Gruts/Arrow Gruts
Marcus/Tornak, etc

Ghostbusters comes out tomorrow. That might take away part of my flocking time. Really hyped for that game.

Yet another creative blog title, brought to you by yours truly.

Just thought I'd say hi. I've been away for a bit. Lost my job (the job I hated passionately), and devoted quite a bit of time to doing not much except applying for things. I finally found something part-time, and have an interview for a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program on April 7th. That's along the lines of what I want to do anyway, so it's working out well. Hopefully April 7th goes well.

Been playing alot (... alot) of XBOX360. Gears of War 2, Peggle, Hasbro Family Game Night. Fun times.

Went to Baltimore/DC/Pennsylvania last week, visiting family (in-laws). Fun times. I hate flying though.

Anyway... hi.

Making soap and other adventures.

Posted February 16th, 2009 at 01:10 AM by Melwing17
Random blog time!

My wife- we'll call her "Abbie", since her name is... well, Abbie.. anyway, shes been on this kick lately where she's making stuff. Not just like making dinner, but actually making stuff.

Not like pouring pre-made stuff from a bottle into soap molds. No, sir- she's putting on goggles, getting out the blender... getting the lye, etc- and freakin' making soap. Great soap, too. Smells great and works... well, works like a bar of soap should.

Dish scrubbers.
She found this awesome, but admittedly weird way to make scrubbers for the dishes. Can't think of a better word than that- not sponges, but the ones you really scrub with. Anyway... she's taking plastic grocery sacks and cutting them in this particular way so that they pull out into one very long continuous strand. Then she knits them (yes, with knitting needles) into these nifty little scrubbers. They work great. This isn't one she made, but just...
