My Collection is Complete!

As of Friday September 10 at 5:30pm, I officially own all publicly released figures. I don’t have any Toy’R’Us exclusives or Promo figures, but now have everything from the first master set through wave 10, and all the new D&D expansion sets. I started Heroscape back in 2005 with the master set and was so excited when a new wave was released. The excitement of seeing the new figures on the shelf and the thrill of opening each new booster pack was something I always enjoyed. It was nice to know that even though I bought all of the new sets from an online store, even though I’ve known full well what each figure did and what they looked like before hand from this website, the nostalgic joy was not robbed from me.
All in all though… D&D was rather disappointing The most upsetting revelation was that the Deepwyrm Drow squad is made of 3 different sized figures, and one of them stands about 2 feet taller (by scale) than the other two. The Werewolf Lord is outrageously large. The paint jobs on most figures are also not up to the par that Hasbro was able to offer and neither is the detail. The plastic is so much more flimsy and half of the figures came in the package with already bent spears and swords. My Mindflayer was already broken off of his base, Greater Ice Elemental’s base is warped, and almost half of the Army Cards have bends and/or tears in them. The Goblin Cutters are ridiculously small and the new smaller bases are kind of silly. One of the Warfogred doesn’t even fit on the new smaller sized bases. On a positive note, the Elementals are pretty cool, and the Greater Ice Elemental is definitely my favorite sculpt.
I also received Wave 9 in this mail package; the Ullar Protectors look awesome! I must admit I sat for a minute or two just playing with the figures, shooting at the Marro Dividers and Tul-Bak-Ra (who also look awesome!) with their pistol sized crossbows... It really brought me back to the good ol’ times of Heroscape and a part of my youth I miss. It was that sort of excitement from opening new Heroscape expansions that I missed the most. I still remember after first opening the Heroscape master set, playing with Syvarris as if he was shooting down Grimank off of his T-Rex while Agent Carr snuck up and stabbed Syvarris in the back. If Wizards of the Coast ever officially announce that they will never go back to making Classic ‘Scape, I quite assuredly will quit collecting Heroscape. Nothing quite compares to the Classic…

Welcome to the storied ranks of those of us who Own It All. The company should be willing to replace the broken figure. Good Scaping!

Congrats! I have the promos, too, but haven't gotten to D2 yet.
