Draft Test: Emilia and Big Earth

Posted May 12th, 2018 at 03:02 AM by flameslayer93
I decided to run a draft game against @LoveElemental in an effort to teach her how to use the actual Online Heroscape App through Google Docs and to also teach her about the drafting format for army building.

Plenty of appreciation to @kolakoski for reminding me that Drafting is an actual thing too lol.

We started out by choosing 16 units to be in the draft pool. These cards could range from Official, C3V/SoV, and our customs. We went back and forth picking units pretty much at random lol.

The pool resulted in the following 16 entries:
1. Sienna (Unique Hero)
2. Deathwalker 8000
3. Emilia Clair (Unique Hero)
4. Sir Hawthorne
5. Dund
6. Ashigaru Yari
7. Rastuci Sunce (Common Squad)
8. Protectors of Ullar
9. Ne Gok Sa
10. Mohican River Tribe
11. Wolves of Badru
12. Grand Earth Elemental (Uncommon Hero)
13. Kaemon Awa
14. Kursus
15. Grimnak...

Choose an army!

Posted April 26th, 2018 at 01:49 AM by flameslayer93
At the last tournament I attended, I will admit, I was challenged by the format. The format was 385 points over 14 16 figures. Each map had a house army (one that was prebuilt), and players diced off to see who chose what build: their own, the house, or even their opponent's. The Tourney Report can be seen here, if you want to give it a read.

From a tournement last year, we discovered that some of the high end units were really deadly, largely because players couldn't mass commons to fight them.

So, in a format where you could end up fighting your own army units like Nilfheim, Bramcephys, and Heracles were all really risky to run. You'll probably be able to win games where you did run your own Army, and you run a big risk of losing them if you can't. Two of my game wins were because of that very reason, and one of my wins was because I was able to get a big unit , Jotun, to face against my opponent's Quahon.

My possible builds before I settled...

Getting the 3rd Wave out

Posted March 17th, 2018 at 03:33 AM by flameslayer93
I've been having my third custom wave ruminating for awhile now. I like how the first two waves came out (wave 1, wave 2), and wave 3 looks like it's going to be good too. Right now, I have to paint the minis for the Skaven Clansmen squad... even if I only get to paint one squad for the photoshoot .

I used the MtG figures to make some common squads, the first two were the red squads. I might try to give them some highlights with white paint, to help sell the figures. But, at least I don't have to give them a whole paint job lol.

Probably some of my favorite designs in this one are the heroes though. I touched Sir Lancelot's wording, and decided to put my Dark Wolf custom in this wave. Redesigning the Sarglagon, a water monster who can throw tsunamis at his enemies, is also a treat. And Emilia Clair, the psychic heroine was heavily designed by Tina. It really is thematic. Now I just have to get on the project...

I still have to update the Waves...

The Rat Plague of Dunwall

Posted March 10th, 2018 at 08:09 PM by flameslayer93
Dishonored 1 was a fun game, I bought it on release for the PS3 back in the day. Only did 1 playthough of it, and it was a fun ride. I had turned it back on from time to time for giggles. But, being a young spudding adult with work, a social life, and good olí heroscape I never had the time to give it another run.

Fast forward to last Saturday...? I saw Dishonored 2 was in stock at Walmart was in stock for $20. Iíve played the first couple levels so far, and Iím looking forward to playing it some more. The rats arenít the main issue this time around. Iím playing this run as Emily, since it seemed like this was her story. I might fiddle around as Corvo in a later run. They have different power sets, so thatís definately some incentive to run through it a second time.

Since wednesday though, I caught the plague. Or it seems that way. High fever, swollen throat, mucus. Itís been a miserable four days. I havenít been to work since Wednesday either. Man, my paycheck...

Da Bomb!!

Posted February 12th, 2018 at 02:39 AM by flameslayer93
It's been a long while since I've talked strategy on this site. At least nothing serious anyways. So today, I think I'll use my blog to talk about Deathwalker 7000. Now, a lot of this is just theory, since I don't believe I've used him in a long time. Heck, maybe only twice.

First, let's really break the 'borg down. He has all kinds of things going against him, the classic 1 Life for Deathwalkers, a ranking of Unique, and a power that still kills him even if it fails. To make matters worse, he is moderately expensive at 100 points, and has little synergy in Classic 'Scape. But he has a really good pair of powers, even if his main thing has a large margin of error, and a good defense rating of 7.

C3V/SoV units have given this soulborg a new chance though. Not necessarily a great new perspective on life so that he should avoid blowing up of course, he still has that thing going for him, but at least he isn't an OM sink anymore. Zettian Infantry, and Hoplitrons...
