Choose an army!

Posted April 26th, 2018 at 12:49 AM by flameslayer93
At the last tournament I attended, I will admit, I was challenged by the format. The format was 385 points over 14 16 figures. Each map had a house army (one that was prebuilt), and players diced off to see who chose what build: their own, the house, or even their opponent's. The Tourney Report can be seen here, if you want to give it a read.

From a tournement last year, we discovered that some of the high end units were really deadly, largely because players couldn't mass commons to fight them.

So, in a format where you could end up fighting your own army units like Nilfheim, Bramcephys, and Heracles were all really risky to run. You'll probably be able to win games where you did run your own Army, and you run a big risk of losing them if you can't. Two of my game wins were because of that very reason, and one of my wins was because I was able to get a big unit , Jotun, to face against my opponent's Quahon.

My possible builds before I settled...

Customs Creation - April 2018

Customs Creation
Simply Creative
Author: Scytale

In my previous two articles, I delved into the custom creation aspects of balance and theme. In this article I will address a third aspect: creativity.

“Creativity” as an aspect of unit creation is not nearly as clearly defined as balance or theme. It could mean different things to different people, and even multiple things to some of us. So what is “creativity” and how is it important? First let’s try to define it.

Perhaps the easiest way to come to understand what is creative is by looking at what is not. I think we can all agree that a unit that has the same stats and powers as another unit is lacking in creativity. Simply using a different figure doesn’t add much. This thinking is easily extended: if a custom has the same theme as an existing unit and plays mostly the

C3G Strategy - April 2018

C3G Strategy Guide
Mister Sinister
By: Ronin

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Mutate (Synergy)
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Telepath (Synergy)
Personality – Manipulative
Size/Height – Medium 5

Mutate synergies don’t amount to much—effectively, Sinister can be chosen as the Jackal’s Experiment, if you’re really worried about keeping him alive. You most likely won’t want to leverage that unless you’re playing in a pretty high-point arena, though, since there are better ways to maximize Sinister’s value. Telepath synergies can be pretty nice, however—Sinister can get into a couple of factions that way, and there’s lots of overlap between mutant and telepath synergies, which

FFC #12 - The Coming of Dan

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry 12

It's been awhile since my last update. Surprisingly, not much has changed, but I still wanted to let you all know where I was.

Horizon in Sight has progressed nicely, and is nearly finished. The development, that is. The writing comes later. I have one last subplot I need to plug into the outline, then I need to smooth the outline out with transitions and such, and we'll be ready to start the writing. A very rough estimate would put the release date somewhere around July.

Writing will be temporarily disrupted from now until May 9, as I do several things I have never done before in my life: get on a plane, and visit the east coast. I'll be flying down to South Carolina, then heading to Florida, for two weeks. It's highly unlikely much writing will get done, though I might be able to do a bit on the plane (if they still allow that sort of thing...).

The 'specs' for HiS are a single fan fiction,...
