Retro (Classic) PC Games (DOS Days)

Posted November 4th, 2008 at 04:13 PM by Nadi
I grew up with a computer at a very early age. (4 years old, to be exact.) It was a gift to my sister when she was 8 one Christmas. It was a Commadore 64 and she didn't want anything to do with it. Instead, I was mezmerized by it and I quite grew fond of the games and such that I could do on it. It wasn't long after that as I started to grow older that my fondness for video games started to really grow. I had all the systems growing up:

Atari, C64, NES, SuperNES, (never was a Genesis fan...), DreamCast, PS2,... still waiting on my PS3. But, you get the idea. Video games were at my heart when I was a lot younger.

Things changed for console gaming when we got our first 286 computer. (Tandy, I believe.) I started to mess around on it a little bit, but computer games quickly became something that I got really into. (Remember the old classics: Space Quest series, Police Quest, King's Quest, etc?) American Version 2.0

Posted November 3rd, 2008 at 05:06 PM by EternalThanos86
4. a citizen of the United States of America.
-from the Random House Unabridged Dictionary

In honor of my least favorite time every year, election season (often called by the losers "the beginning of Armageddon"), this week will bring the critical eye of the Version 2.0 machine on the traditional American person. One must note the noun, not the adjective, is the item in question.

1776 is a year that for most who have a basic knowledge of history rings a bell for the sheer sake of the liberty being expressed on the North American continent. Never before had such an idealistic group achieved actuality in such a short amount of time. The American Founders sucessfully created a new nation with a relatively new system of government all within a lifetime. They cared for the rights of man (as long as the "man" was literally a white, Protestant man), and promoted the values of liberty above loyalty to a government....

Week @ Heroscapers, November 3

Image of the Week

Got football on the mind? Wanna play 'Scape but the game's on instead? What is one to do? How about appeasing both interests at the same time. How? Why, fielding the Green Bay Vikings, of course. These Tarn repaints are brought to us by SnotWalker 8000.

Thread of the Week

How often will a Master beat a novice? Is it even possible to master the game? There has been some intensive discussion in both of these threads about how much skill and luck factor into a game of Heroscape. Some say it just comes down to the dice, while others argue that a players skill will mitigate the effects of luck. Exercise your brain and contribute to the conversation with your opinions, observations, and experiences.

It's fun to go back and look at what...

Our ninth 'Scaper of the Week is

Age: 40

Allegiance and why?
My allegiance is to Vydar although I do find myself playing alot of Einar units lately...but a wise man once said “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” And after all he got the chick at the end.

When did you get into HeroScape and why?
A couple years back I had eyed the bubble display at TRU and...
