PROFILE:

Who are you really?
I am Luke Burris

How old are you?
29

What is your occupation?
Currently, I am a Shift Leader @ Arby's.

What other interests do you have?
I view that everything is itself in particular and muddied by layers of others, while being a layer that muddies others. I like defining things, finding their essence, discovering their parameters, and then meshing them with other things I've put through the same treatment to see what happens. I like making things work.

What's another board game you enjoy and why?
Right now I'm playing the heck out of Solforge, because it is so difficult to beat but on the surface seems so simple.
Also, Battles of Westeros:

Vengeance of the Gladiators! - Revised

Posted June 27th, 2013 at 03:17 PM by kolakoski
Well met!

chas, Taeblewalker, and I played
Vengeance of the Gladiators! A Kolakoski Studios Production yesterday, 6/26/13. Various issues arose during play that unbalanced the scenario. They included Jotun (CUC) being way too strong in a melee only environment, the Crowd being too efficient at killing, and the Player spending the most for Initiative having too much of an advantage. In general, making the various bribery issues for all intents and purposes winner take all silent auctions for huge advantages destroyed balance in the scenario. The following major rewrite is my attempt to repair the damage.

Important Administrative Notes

Posted June 26th, 2013 at 01:21 PM by truth
About the recent downtime

Heroscapers has been down for several hours on several occasions lately. While we work on the problem, effective immediately, you will no longer receive most email notifications from Heroscapers. The only exceptions are:
  • PM received notifications, and
  • verification of your email account for new registrations or when you change your email address.
This means, among other things, that subscribed thread notifications will no longer occur. We are unsure exactly how long these will remain off, but it will be weeks.

Secondly, and importantly, it is possible that we will have to take Heroscapers offline abruptly and for extended periods of time. We are of course working to avoid this from happening. Should this happen, rest assured we will be working to return ASAP.

During those outages, because the site is down, it is difficult to communicate to all of you what's happening. To help with that, we will try...

Utgar Always Wins

The Valkryie discovered or knew the well springs were important, valuable -Necessary for the stability of Valhalla. And so they decided to fight over them- this should be our first clue that 1) The Valkryie generals donít always make good choices and 2) They suffer human failings even if they do have big wings sticking out of their backs.

So they summoned warriors from all areas and eras to fight for the Valkryie generals.

I think this is completely unsustainable. Bringing in mercenaries from this era or the past or future always ends badly. Itís like bringing in cats to kill the mice on a remote island but the catís prefer to eat the non-flying bird population instead. The locals end up hating you or the mercenaries try to take power for themselves.

What exactly is in these well springs? Do I want to tempt a bunch of mercenaries with that power? What binds them to the generals? It seems to be philosophy- they summon troops who will
