Well met!

The Gang of Four next meets on June 7th, with yours truly as Host. In honor of D-Day, "invasion" is this month's theme; however, in this case, it will be interplanetary . . .

Invaders from Marr!

When the inevitable invasion occurred, the citizens of Valhalla were united, not by a desire to help their fellow creatures, but by their individual greed . . .

Combined Start Zones are the yellow Snow hexes
(on the left and right ends of the Map).

The Map. A mountain lake in Winter, with Evergreens, Bushes, Ice and Snow (and 8 spots of Shadow). Half submerged is the Marr ship, with Alien Artifacts (7 Treasure Glyphs, ignoring Powers), and some Lava Field in its wake. One combined 24 hex Start Zone for each Team.

How did you get into Heroscape, C3G and Heroscapers?

Heroscape:

I got into Heroscape in 2007: my Mum was looking for a game for me online that would hopefully go for a few more than a couple of games before collecting dust, saw this, thought I might like it (partially on account of the semi-Norse theme) and that the expansions had a shot at giving it some longevity, and checked it with my brother, whose response was that it was “worth a shot.” So, she gave me Rise of the Valkyrie for Christmas, and all it took was a look at what it was, a look at the figures and one game with the basic rules on an extremely poorly designed, amateurish map before I decided that I loved it. The only really notable thing here, synergy-wise, is Plastic Man’s class of adventurer. The adventurers are one of the most formidable factions in C3G, which will certainly factor into Plastic Man army-building. Otherwise, there’s not much worth spending time on here.

Since I have ten fan fiction stories of my own, I figured it was only a matter of time before I had to spotlight one of them. That time has come, and I’ve chosen one which I personally believe to be my best: “The River That Was Red.”

I’ve seen a lot of fan fiction start off strong, only to slow down and eventually stop altogether. This has led me to wonder why. Certainly there are several contributing factors, chief among them being a lack of planning ahead. But there are other culprits, such as a lack of tension, not enough readers, or simply a lack of interest on the author’s part.
