Posted May 11th, 2019 at 11:46 AM by HS Codex

’Scaper of the Month
MrNobody
Author: quozl

This month, we have someone new to Heroscapers (joined less than a year ago) but who has already made a big splash over at the C3G section of Heroscapers. Meet, Mr. Nobody!

PROFILE

Who are you really?
I’m Nobody and No-One, but my friends call me Troy.

How old are you?
A fresh young 20.

What is your occupation?
My last job was working at a Smoothie King, but right now I’m am unemployed, broke student.

What are other games you enjoy and why?
I’m not really much of a board gamer outside of Heroscape, because I’ve never really had opponents to play against. I used to play a lot of video games but I don’t really do that much either nowadays. Smash Ultimate is probably what I’ve been playing the most recently, ’cause

Customs Creation - April 2019

Posted April 28th, 2019 at 12:49 PM by HS Codex

Customs Creation
Getting the Most Out of Your (Playtesting) Time
Author: Scytale

Coming up with ideas is exciting, putting together cards is rewarding, and showing your customs to other people is fun. It is even fun to put them in a game. But serious, deep-dive playtesting is often more work than play, something all too easy to brush aside. Yet it is perhaps the single most valuable and important part of the customs creation process. Serious playtesting not only is essential to refine (and sometimes rework) a custom design, but it also teaches valuable lessons that can improve future designs.

But time spent in playtesting is not always valuable, and in fact it can easily become wasteful. At the very least, repeating the same scenarios grants diminishing returns. We are all busy with activities outside of Heroscape playtesting; so, instead

Scaper of the Month: April 2019

Posted April 12th, 2019 at 06:16 PM by HS Codex

’Scaper of the Month
IamBatman
Author: quozl

This month, we have one of the founders of both C3G and C3V. Read on to learn more about who is really behind that famous cowl!

PROFILE

Who are you really?
I’m Batman.

How old are you?
36. Of course, that’s in comic book years.

What is your occupation?
College English lecturer by day. C3G legend by night.

What are other games you enjoy and why?
Gloomhaven and Sentinels of the Multiverse are probably my two all-timers.

It helps that they’re thematic, cooperative, and I have a good friend who’ll come over to my house and play both obsessively with me.

I love the easy-to-learn but deep-to-play mechanics of Sentinels as well as the superhero theme. Gloomhaven has such fun strategic

C3G Interview: March 2019

Posted March 30th, 2019 at 09:23 AM by HS Codex

C3G Interview
Spidey’tilIDie
Author: Tornado & the C3G crew

After a bit of a delay I am proud to present a brand new, all fresh, interview with the friendly neighborhood Spidey. Some of the crew at C3G helped me out with questions. Enjoy.

L0B5T3R: What exactly does “C3G’s first fan” mean?
Well, I was given that title, but to me, it means that I was the first observer in C3G. Way back when the Old Guard started this little project up, I was green and new to this game. I was, frankly, not ready to play with the big boys in designing. I knew the characters though, probably better than anyone else there at the time. So, they allowed me to chime into the public conversations and share opinions, and I got to watch the vote as a spectator. I watched every one of the power sets of the World’s Finest be brainstormed, workshopped,

C3G Strategy Guide
Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang)
Author: Lazy Orang

Since C3G’s first Mortal Kombat set has just dropped, I thought now would be good time to take a look at one of the most interesting new kombatants it’s brought to the Battle of All Time.

Analyzed Statistics

Left Box Breakdown
Species – Cryomancer (no actual synergy, but having a unique species helps when pairing him with Star-Lord)
Uniqueness – Unique Hero
Class – Warrior (provides a Justice League marker to Martian Manhunter (II) and Superman (III))
Personality – Determined (irrelevant)
Size/Height – Medium 5 (manoeuverable, can use ladders, and can be affected by a number of beneficial powers such as Carry, but also vulnerable to
