Yokai vs. 4th Mass

Captain Stupendous and I ran a game with the Yokai's biggest new addition, the Kirin, against an army of 4th Mass yesterday. I was mostly wanting to see how a figure that in theory counters bread and butter squads fares against some of the most bread-and-buttery units out there. Here are the results:

Yokai Team Battle

Don't look away from the walls of text just yet! Here's an appealing picture to show how cool the Yokai can look on the battlefield (you can even see Ibaraki in the distance doing Ibaraki things!):



...Just pretend that Arkmer is Seimei, okay? I had to get free shipping from MiniatureMarket somehow, even if it meant that it took several months to get the Seimei sculpt.

In all seriousness, there was a small handful of people that were in my social bubble last semester. One weekend, we decided to have a great HeroScape team battle, even if it took us all night. Throwing in the regenerating Wildwoods and the Yokai that struggle to kill stuff probably didn't help.

Yokai vs. Varkaanans

This was another early game, where Captain Stupendous offered to help out with testing the Yokai against some Varkaanans. Jealousy that Bahadur is so much better than Masha Shingai ensued.

Captain Stupendous: Varkaanan Quickblades, Varkaanan Swiftfangs, Bahadur, Brute Gruts (365)

Note: Nure Onna was played with only being able to attack once per revealed OM. No other changes were made to her yet.

2x Swiftfangs, 2x Quickblades, 4x Brute Gruts, Bahadur (unwounded)

GAME SUMMARY:
Nure Onna started off strong in the first round, killing 2 Swiftfangs at the end of the round as the Varkaanans coalesced around Masha, who had Shapeshifted into position. She was then cornered on the next turn, though, and struggled...

Yokai vs. Honor Guard

This was another early game of the initial Yokai faction that I had run. This was closer to where I started learning just how weird and game-warping Shapeshift could be, and the amazing ways to mess with your opponent through it.

VOLCARREN PARADISE by Robber

Dawn: Honor Guard of the Blasted Lands x4, Akumaken (370)

GAME SUMMARY:
Dawn won initiative and led Akumaken into the fight. Meanwhile, I decided to overextend with Nure Onna, nabbing height through the central water to attack down on him with four attacks of 4, dealing 4 wounds and taking no Counter Strike damage. Dawn then engaged Nure Onna with the Honor Guards, but failed to deal any damage. My next turn, I had a fully-charged Nure Onna...

Yokai vs. Raptorians

This was one of the earlier tests that I ran of the Yokai as a whole (the first published post in this category is actually the most recent one, truth be told :embarrassed. The most notable change from their latter incarnations is Nure Onna, who was recently significantly redesigned.
