Arrested Development: the TV Show and Now Confirmed Movie!!

Posted July 24th, 2008 at 09:26 PM by Menchy
I was coming off a bad week. I got fired from my job, was grounded, and found out that I owed my parents a couple hundred dollars. Needless to say, it would take quite a bit to cheer me up. It took about five minutes of reading Entertainment Weekly before I was all smiles. Here is the quote that cheered me up the most:

Quote:
In fact, star Jeffrey Tambor told EW last month that "we are indeed doing" the film, but a script hasn't yet been written. (EW issue #1002)

For those of you who don't know, he is talking about Arrested Development, the funniest TV show ever made. (And that's not at all an exaggeration.) The show follows the dysfunctional and rich Bluth family, who's father, the head of the Bluth Company, has been put into jail for building homes for Saddam Hussein. The middle son, Michael (Jason Bateman), is forced to run the company whilst dealing with his colorful cast of family members including:
His cold, alcoholic mother Lucielle (Jessica Walter)
Jailed father George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor)
Untalented magician brother GOB (Will Arnet)
Lazy twin sister Lindsay (Portia De Rossi)
Unintelligent, overmothered brother Buster (Tony Hale)
Failed actor step-brother Tobias (David Cross)
Son with a crush on his cousin George-Michael (Michael Cera)
Niece with a crush on her cousin Maeby (Alli Shawkat)
And the identical twin brother of George Sr. (Also Jeffrey Tambor)

So needless to say, I nearly shatt my pants when I found out, and it prompted me to rewatch the (entirety of the) TV show on DVD. I haven't watched any of the episodes in a few months, and I have to say, coming back to it felt amazing. I simply can't get through any of them without thorougly enjoying myself. My favorite has to be the epsiode where GOB believes Michael is going to escape to Mexico, and hires ICE the bounty hunter to follow him, who Lindsay tries to pick up during her trial seperation from her husband Tobias. Lucielle then hires a private eye Gene Parmesan to follow them. Gene has a habit of disguising himself and then surprising his clients to prove his skills, much to the delight of Lucielle who screams every time she sees him. At the end of the episode, George-Michael's girlfriend Anne, whom his father dislikes, is accidentally left in Mexico, where GOB is tackled for doing his trademark chicken dance, and George Sr. is arrested by the Mexican authorites, after fleeing from American jail, on pot charges that his twin brother Oscar comitted. All in all, it's a pretty awesome episode.

But, the main reason for this blog entry is to really get the word out about this show. If it's going to be a movie, I want as large an audience as possible for it, and I know that everyone else will get just as much enjoyment out of it as I do. So grab some of the DVD sets, because I guarentee that it will be a purchase you will not regret. Arrested Development Love!! Spread it around!!
