Welcome Back, Heroscape

12-year old me's wildest dream. I shed a tear! I'm now 23 and working on a game of my own - never would have happened if my granny hadn't picked up a Master Set and FotA for me for Christmas when I was a kid!

I have all but 2 of the original sets and expansions - this is my favorite game. But I have no interest in painting, and even less time to do so if I did. Unpainted figures will look terrible on the board next to the classic awesome pre-painted figs. It breaks my heart because I would love some new Heroscape, but if it's unpainted, I WILL NOT BUY IT. Did you hear that Avalon Hill / Hasbro? If you going to bring it back, keep it the way it has always been.

I am so stoked about the return of my favorite game of all time!! My daughter (supergirl193) is too, she and I played for the duration of the game and beyond. We Have everything they produced originally as well. And are so happy about the backwards compatibility!! The only thing that could make this any sweeter is to find out that Marvel-Scape has returned and the reinforcements have finally arrived!!

My buddy just sent me the news. Incredible Thanks to all involved to make this happen and this community that keeps 'Scape alive. Hm. I shut the suspected open window, but chills persist.

The news I've been waiting for since November 3, 2010. Somebody pinch me. This can't be real.

I've tried to compile all the news and announcements so far in this one thread. It is not for posting thoughts and commentary--there are adjacent threads for that.

While I absolutely love the idea of HS continuing after such a long hiatus, I'm surprised there is not more of an uproar about the miniatures being unpainted (or "shaded in the color of their general" - I hope this will at least be done better than it was in Arena of the Planeswalkers). They will look sorely out of place with the 1.0 miniatures, and it does feel to me a bit like a kick in the teeth of the old guard . Are people afraid this will be canceled if they utter any criticism, or are all old HS fans also all avid painters that really don't care about this?

I would say that in a time when Warhammer was the most famous skirmish game, the very appeal that made HS so great back then was for a large part in the prepainted mini's. I would say this would be even more the case nowadays, with so many unpainted miniature games available.

Alternatively, most people realize the reality of the cost of plastic and painting these days and understand that Avalon Hill is doing their best to maintain a saleable price point for both the old guard and new players alike (which includes adults as well as children).

What'd I miss?

THIS IS AWESOME! My boys are just getting into Heroscape and this will be their first time getting to open a new master set. I can hear the arguments starting about who gets to use who. Anyway I am wondering if the figures are unpainted what do the figures on the card look like? It'd be nice to kind of have an official color scheme for each figure as a color guide. Oh well, I may just paint them however I want anyway.

This is INSANE. I cannot express my excitement!
