Custom Creations - DC Heroscape

Posted January 24th, 2010 at 12:44 PM by truth

Do you love the Marvel set? Or maybe you've been thinking about giving it a try for the first time? Have you wished that there were more figures available for it, including squads? Do you wish the license extended into other universes, such as DC? What is a superhero-lovin' Heroscaper to do?!
Sure, you could play with the many customs on the site. But even though many of them are excellent, how do you know if they're balanced? What if they're not compatible with customs made by other creators? How much playtesting, if any, actually went into them?
For you the comics fan, we at C3G have taken action. We are very proud to introduce the first of hopefully many C3G releases: DC Heroscape Custom Large Expansion: World's Finest!"

Awesome! Thanks for posting this, Truth, and thanks to all my C3G teammates for all your hard work for the last few months and to all the community members who have already come out to show your support and interest in this project!
The great thing is, we're just getting started.

The comic and box art picture were both the doing of Whitestuff, so make sure to rep the fellow if you get the chance. Great work on those, Whitestuff!

I'm not at all into comic books or super heroes (not even the HS Marvel Set, but my grandsons like to play with them ...and I had to have four warehouse walls, haha) - personally I'd rather see more historic additions to the Valhalla panoply (i.e. Spartans, Athenians, Persians, French, Hessians, Waffen-SS, etc.). However, I did purchase from eBay some additional Custom Super Heroes a while ago (for the kids of course) and was concerned that they hadn't been properly play-tested or accurately "stat'ed" (if that's a word?). So I want to commend all of you who have worked on this project and wish you much success with it. It looks awesome and knowing that a serious group of HS'ers has determined to honestly reach a consensus on how each fig or sqd is to be configured is the icing on this cake. What the HS community needs is some way to "STANDARDIZE" customized productions so that everyone is on the same sheet of music. What I love most about HeroScape is the potential it has to play out ANY tactical battle scenario in 3D with just a little tweaking. Hasbro (imho) dropped the ball by not mass producing every franchised character in it's inventory as HS figures with stat cards and keeping as many HS Master Set versions on the TRU shelves as there are Monopoly games. Let's continue to hope that WotC catches OUR vision for the future of this hobby and doesn't just cram a continuous barage of D&D down our throats. GREAT JOB - KUDOS!

Johngee, honestly I see this custom project as a template for future custom efforts in this community. Things go so much better when the community gets together, collaborates, playtests, and really puts the full effort a project like this takes into their customs. Individual efforts we see so much of around here are a lot of fun and add a lot of flavor to the site, but in my mind the two do not compare.
Once official Heroscape is no longer being produced, I'm really hoping to see (and be involved in) an effort like this for Valhalla. And maybe for other places too ... Endor?
