Webcomic Review: The Dreamland Chronicles

Posted May 26th, 2008 at 07:30 PM by Firemaster
For an explanation of my review system, go to my LFG review here.

For today's review, I am going with my favourite "serious" webcomic, The Dreamland Chronicles. Also, I've changed my mind about how often I'm going to do reviews. There are so many great comics out there, that it would take years to review even a fraction of them going at once a week. Anyways, on to the review.

Title/Author: The Dreamland Chronicles, by Scott Christian Sava

Update Schedule: Weekdays.

Genre: Fantasy

Style: Story-Driven

Art:

Summary: Alex is a normal guy, and like most normal guys, he dreams. Unlike a normal guy, however, his dreams seem to take him to a place not of this world, called Dreamland. When he was a kid, Dreamland was a nice place. Then he found a magic sword, and stopped dreaming of Dreamland. Now, 8 years later, the dreams have begun again, and Dreamland is not such a nice place. With the magic sword he found as a child, and with his friends by his side, he must try and free Dreamland from the clutches of the evil Dragon King, Nicodemus, and his minions from the Nightmare Realm.

Comments: Honestly, if Ethan (from CAD) and Richard (from LFG) weren't such funny characters, Dreamland Chronicles would be my #1 favourite webcomic. As it stands, Dreamland Chronicles is my third favourite webcomic overall, and #1 favourite non-humorous webcomic. It's got an exceptional story, well rounded characters, and absolutely amazing art. My only complaint is that the 3D art style seems to water down the action a bit, making it seem more like a series of stills, and less like a smooth flow like you'd see in most hand drawn comics. It is only a very minor complaint, so don't let that deter you from reading. I highly recommend that everyone read this webcomic.

I've been flipping through the first few pages. It's not bad, but I'm not convinced it's great yet, either.

Lets just say yesterday I checked this comic out and after the first few pages I almost stopped looking at it, but then it started to get good and I read every page of the comic strip last night. This is a great comic! Thanks firemaster for bringing it to my attention!
