Me and the Marro Part I

Posted October 1st, 2008 at 04:10 PM by Roland
It did not start with the Marro Warriors in the ROTV masterset, but with their self proclaimed warlord, Ne-Gok-Sa. A hefty defense, an awesome sculpt, and an amazing ability, I was hooked. This was August of 2007 (Hard to believe I have only been playing a year!)

The original masterset had me hookes, and I was wanting more, so I talke dto an old friend that had a collection, he sold it to me for $40. It came with a couple wave one, two, and three expansions, a Raknar's Vision, RttFF, and of course another ROTV. Now I had Su-Bak-Na who is a high contender on my list of favorite Marro, due to his awesome mount, and again an awesome ability, he helped me mindshackle and clone! At this point I had one squad of drones, then I got my SOTM, it was amazing! All those Marro, all for me to control on the battlefield, stingers, which were immediately my favortie ranged unit (Unless I got to build a swamp map, then the drudge got even more play time!). Risk!

Posted September 8th, 2008 at 01:22 PM by Roland
Played my frist game of the reimplemented Risk on Saturday, it lasted all of twenty minutes including setup and explaining the rules. Of the three players, I was the second player to go and managed to get two objectives, and could have gone for a third but decided to hold my luck, I got both extra dice bonuses and waited for the game to come around to my turn again, where I quickly gained my last objective and won.

The only reason why it happened so quickly is on my first turn I was occupying South America and Australia with a friend who could not seem to roll higher than 1 or 2 for any of his rolls, because of this I managed to take his capital, Australia, and South America on my first turn, and I didn't lose any troops so I set up a heavy defense before ending my turn.

The game lacked in fun, but I hope next time we pull it out the dice rolls will be a little better for him.

A change in pace

I hate my job, plain and simple, and want out something fierce in order to take up something I truly enjoy. Writing.

I have a few short stories revolving around a central character and will continue to flesh him out until NaNoWriMo. I will post updates here of the characters, and stories as we approach November, and will use this blog as a journal through the adventure of writing a novel.

The main character, Selkirk (Rest unrevealed at this point) is a supernatural investigator in a world that has shunned their harder to explain ancestry. Set in an alternate time line we will explore humanity, and what it truly means.
