Heroscape Accessories
Through out the ages of collectable gaming there has always been the "accessory". Accessories are defined as items that are nonessential but desirable, in that they contribute to effect or result.
We have just seen our first official accessory release in the Valkyrie dice and dice bags included with the Flag Bearers. But we've had non-official accessories floating around for some time now.
Magic the Gathering and other collectable card games have their card sleeves, card boxes, and card binders. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to walk into a hall of CCG (collectable card game) players, and find a player without his cards in sleeves. And why not, they protect a valuable investment. (Value is in the eye of the beholder.)
HeroScape has developed its equivalent to the card sleeve. House Mouse Games sells a HeroScape sized card sleeve. And they work beautifully. You'll find it well worth the investment, when your clumsy friend, who never pays for anything he destroys, decides to spill his diet coke all over your precious cards.
Another gaming accessory that has been around for a good long time is the dice tower. Now, the dice tower is far less prevalent in dice games than the card sleeves are in the CCGs. But here in our little world of heroscapers the dice tower is all the rage.
It's almost like a status symbol to your hardcore fanaticism to the game. And who is supplying all the dice towers round here? Well that would be our own Matt 'Infinity Max' Drake. He's started up a company called VixenTor Games to sell them. Right now VixenTor only sells dice towers but the word from the bird is that he'll be adding to that soon. And man does he take good care of ya. I own one of these myself and the towers are hand made with great care. He has even introduced a new line of compact dice towers that are extremely affordable and are smaller, and fit nicely on a table with limited space.
Many miniature war gamers have special carrying cases that house all of their little fragile minis. HeroScape minis don't suffer from the same fragile make-up, but the storage option is still nice for organization. When you lug this stuff around to game with, it is a must to have some way of carrying it with you. The solutions are various and many. But the most talked about is the use of tackle boxes as carrying cases. They are affordable in comparison to carrying cases made for miniature war gaming and they have all sorts of little compartments in which to keep your stuff all separated out, the OCD gamer inside you will be thrilled! Another great feature is that these tackle boxes come in all different sizes. Whether you only want something for carrying your army to a tourney, or you're looking to take your whole collection to a friend's house, there is a tackle box out there for you.
So if you've got some change burning a hole in your pocket, or there just aren't enough new HeroScape releases out to fill up your Christmas list, check out these great accessories that any self-respecting heroscaper can't go without.
