FFC #40 - Too... Much... Knowledge...

Recently, I mentioned how my study of character arcs was proving a lot more expansive than I had original anticipated. It keeps getting larger, but at least I feel like I'm finding a ton of new information I was previously missing. It's kind of all hitting me at once, so I'll need time to sort through it and figure it all out.

Here's what I see happening: There's no way I'm not going to practice creating character arcs. I think practice is the best way I'll be able to get a firm grip on how the different character arcs (and parts of the arcs) work together. I thought for a bit about what characters I could use to practice with, and naturally decided on characters I had been toying with for Eternity. Namely the Valkyrie.

Unreliable Seishin vs. Gladiators (The Final Attempt)

Glyphs: Gerda (Defense +1), Valda (Move +2)
Astro: Tagawa Samurai Archers x6, Seishin Samurai x7 (600)
Leo: Capuan Gladiators x4, Spartacus, Crixus, Achillean Gladiatrix x1 (610)

Note: The Seishin Samurai had only 3 move instead of 4 (Honor Beyond Death also only gave 3 free spaces of movement). They also each spawn by being placed on Samurai Cards, limiting their respawn capabilities, and can only return to the Samurai card for another spawn if they roll a 13 or higher upon death.

SURVIVING UNITS:
8x Tagawa Samurai Archers, 2x Seishin Samurai (3 unspawned)
~320 Points Left (Counting 90 points of unspawned Seishin)

GAME SUMMARY:
Seishin won initiative and got to Gerda first. Leo claimed Valda, but his advancing Gladiators kept dying the next turn after whiffing against TSA potshots, including his Gladiatrix. This continued for a while until Leo got desperate enough...

FFC #39 - About this whole 'Character Arc' thing...

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #39

Some of you might know that I've briefly paused the development of Eterntiy and its installments while I read up on character arcs. I'm now beginning to realize that said pause will be longer than I originally thought.

Not only is there a lot to character arcs and how they are put together, but getting an idea of how they work and how to create them is proving a lot more difficult to grasp than I had originally supposed. I'm going to have to study multiple sources, breakdown lots of examples, and probably practice writing short character arcs some before I'm in a spot where I can restart the development for Eternity.

I might create a short thread for that above-mentioned practice. No promises; that's still in the foggy future.

Currently I'm studying the wisdom of K. M. Weiland. If you know if any breakdown of character arcs (and specifically FORMULAS for how to create them) which are...

Unreliable Seishin vs. Native Americans

Army 1: Tagawa Samurai Archers x5, Seishin Samurai x3, Raelin (495)
Army 2: Mohican River Tribe x3, Brave Arrow, Teeth of the Makwa x3, Kira Jax (500)

Note: The Seishin Samurai were played as Common Heroes like their SoV Submission, but with only 3 move instead of 4 (Honor Beyond Death also only gave 3 free spaces of movement). They also each spawn by being placed on Samurai Cards, limiting their respawn capabilities.

Furthermore, per @Leo Ultra 's suggestion, they gained a fourth ability that is pretty similar to the Skeletons of Annellintia. When they're destroyed, the D20 is rolled, and if they get an 11 or higher, then they return to a Samurai Army Card instead of being removed from the game.

2x Tagawa Samurai Archers, 1x Seishin Samurai
~70 Points Left
