Scaper of the Week 35 - Annerios

Our latest Scaper of the Week is a Master of Makeover, the Prince of Paint, and the King of Customs. He is none other than Annerios, the Master Custom Creator, as his title suggests. Annerios is also a member of the Codex staff and his contributions to this site can be seen in each issue. Read on to discover more about the man who's favorite unique hero is also one of my own. I present to you, Annerios. Enjoy!

Our 35th Scaper of the Week:

Who are you?

Race and Heroscape - Why NOT Masai or Mayan Warriors?

Posted August 3rd, 2009 at 11:36 AM by kolakoski
Well met!

A recent off the cuff and, as it turns out, boneheaded post by yours truly in Random Heroscape Musings has brought up an issue that, while addressed before in numerous posts in various Heroscapers' forums, has not, to my knowledge been addressed in quite the way I now suggest. I quote myself (not the boneheaded post, but one following a bit of discussion).

The "prickly" issue of racial sensitivity is, in my opinion, one of ignorance about and between the races. If I were Wotc, I would see this as an opportunity to fight such ignorance and make a buck at the same time. I'd consult with Black historians (Schaumberg Center?) and activists and the media ina way similar to the way Marvel publicized Luke Cage or the Black Panther. I'd bring in the guys who did the research for Mel Gibson's Mayan movie. I'd get Al Sharpton's endorsement. I'd do TV commercials touting the educational and social advantages to Heroscape, as opposed to...

Deadeye Dan Vs. Sudema

Posted July 30th, 2009 at 01:03 PM by Elginb
This is an example of two figures whose price disparity makes no sense to me. Both are niche figures, both filling very similar niches, but one costs 60 points while the other costs 140 points; one fits nicely into lots of armies without being overpowering, while the other is very difficult to fit into an army without seeming ineffective.

Now, I know that on first glance, it might seem like Sudema is more powerful than Deadeye Dan. Sudema has one more life and one more defense than DED. More importantly, she has twice the chance of destroying a hero (D20 roll of 17+) as DED (D20 roll of 19+), and Sudema has a 2/3 chance of killing squaddies, whereas DED only has a 50% chance of killing (small or medium) squaddies (but also to wound small or medium heroes).

Now, even though Sudema's raw stats are better than DED's, Sudema has to expose herself to engagement much more so than DED, in order to utilize her full niche potential-- that means that she can be bogged...

Wave 9 Battle Pics

Posted July 29th, 2009 at 12:30 PM by Mossman
A few pics from my Glads vs Samurai battle:

It was a close battle all the way. The Gladiators started out strong, but counterstrike was a killer (literally) on several occasions, and Retiarus got himself encircled and dispatched. The battle came down to Kato on height against Crixus and one Capuan. Kato took out the Capuan with ease. With only one life remaining, Kato rolled four skulls, and so did Crixus, ending the battle and giving the Samurai...

A Pinball in God's Machine

Posted July 28th, 2009 at 03:46 PM by NamibianScaper
Well I've been offline (off Heroscapers) bouncing around the world like a Pinball in God's giant Pinball Machine the past couple months.

I didn't get to comment on the last couple releases on their threads.

I'm also not shopping for any new stuff at the moment, though I do hope to be back at home in Africa where all our stuff is soon.

Today I got to see my first Wave 9's in person. It will probably be 2011 before I get to releasing them for the family and reviewing them on this blog, if ever, but if I do I'll have a lot of fun since I like to talk about the proportions of the figures... "Atlaga is HUGE." "Migol is ROUND." Just a preview.

On another note: Even though I'm on highspeed Internet in America, I still can't bear to navigate the voluminous pages of forums. - Can someone please link me to the tournament report where the Dividers won that I read about on the main page? - Also a link to where the rest...
